Deputy Minister,
Department of Transport
Ottawa, Ontario

Dear Sir:

Re: Field Survey -
Gap Filler Station -
Mount Carleton, NB.

Would you please refer to your letter of 13 January, 1960, file 26-10-7, with which you forwarded copies of a Permission to Enter form from the owner of Lot 782, County of Yamaska, PQ and a request by the New Brunswick Department of lands and Mines for information concerning our proposed site at Mount Carleton.

Our consultant's report in respect of the installation at Mount Carleton is expected to reach this department within the next few weeks. I regret that at the present time it is not possible to define accurately the location but I can tell you that it will consist of two small areas each approximately 100 feet square. One area will be located as close as practicable to the highest point of the mountain and will consist of an operations building and combined tower for our installation and forestry personnel. The second parcel will be at a convenient location further down the hill and will comprise a power and accommodation building. A road allowance extending approximately 6 miles from the existing Fraser Company Nictau Lake Road will also be required.

When the design plan of the combined tower is available I will ensure that it is submitted through your Department to the Province for its approval of the forestry facilities.

Yours sincerely,

for Deputy Minister
