GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
GAP FILLER RADAR STATIONS

Submission of Reconnaissance Reports and
Interim Construction Estimates

All consultants are requested to submit immediately a progress schedule for the completion of reconnaissance trips and submission of reconnaissance reports and interim construction estimates with a view to completing this phase of the work by 15 October 1959, if at all possible. This instruction does not cancel our previous request that reconnaissance trip and commencement of field survey should be combined in remote sites from head offices. This instruction will apply to only those sites which have been approved for field survey but deleting those which are now being relocated.

Siting of Building and Tower

For sites not yet visited or surveyed, it is requested that the possibility be investigated of siting the building and tower with a distance of 10 feet between the END wall of the building and the line joining two adjacent legs of the tower and with the finished floor of the building at the same elevation as the top of the piers of the tower. In order to accomplish this, it will be permissible to move the tower off the highest point.

Foundation Sketches for Building and Tower

Al consultants are requested to submit general recommendations for building and tower locations and foundations, in writing, and postpone the preparation of foundation sketches until further advised.
