Re: Communications Facilities
Gap Filler Radar Stations
Northwestern Ontario

Dear Sirs:

In reply to your letter of 15 September 1959, regarding communication facilities generally in the Northwestern Ontario, we appreciate the interest shown and information submitted by your firm but wish to point out that too much importance is being placed upon your enquiries by the Bell Telephone Co. Your responsibilities are to be restricted to initial inquiries in order to supplement your field observations and only apply to the distance between the site and the nearest control office. The route to be followed from this central office to the parent station is the responsibility of the communication authorities such as Bell Telephone Co, but it was felt that you would have to be advised of the parent station in order to appreciate which general direction the routing would have to follow.

Basically speaking, we wish you to report only the location of the nearest telephone facilities, the control office involved, and the approximate cost of improved or new lines for so many miles at an average estimated cost per mile. The interim construction estimates can ignore the anticipated saving by joint use of poles at this time.

Yours truly,
