Re: Gap Filler Radar Stations, Townships of
Diaz, Perigny, Castelneau, Houdet, Asselin and Perigny;
Your files: Q-1174-8, 10, 11, 9, 12, 16
Dear Sir:
We have received your letter of March 6th together with copy of plans Nos L39-1-1000-1, N24-1-1000-1, on which have been shown the access roads and respective proposed Gap Filler Stations at L'Ascension, Nishkotea and Beaver Tower, in the townships of Castelnau, Houdet and Diaz.
We are advising the Department of Games and Fisheries by forwarding to them copy of your letter by which the Department of National Defence intend to build a station at L'Ascension, in the Township of Castelnau, within the Mont Tremblant Park.
We have also received your letter of March 9th together with three copies of plans L38-1-1000-1, S116-1-1000-1 and S114-1-1000-1 indicating the proposed Gap Filler Stations at L'Anse St Jean, St Hedwidge and Squatteck, in the townships of Perigny, Meilleur and Asselin.
We note in the case of the Squatteck project, township of Asselin, an additional parcel of land is required on a distance of 2.3 miles for the construction of a 66 ft wide access road running from the existing range road and crossing Crown-owned lands on a distance of 1.3 miles; the other mile being on property owned by Mr Joseph Jacques, (lot 16/VIII, Township of Biencourt, indicated as sold in our books).
We note that you have advised the licence holder and/or that you will communicate with them in order to make the required arrangements as mentioned in our letter of July 26th, 1961.
When you will be in a position to furnish us with the plans and technical descriptions prepared by a Land Surveyor duly qualified to undertake surveys in the Province of Quebec (who will have to take instructions from the Survey's Division), we will prepare a draft of Order in Council, which, if approved, will authorize the reservation of the above mentioned Provincial lands under the jurisdiction of Her Majesty the Queen in the Rights of the Crown, as long as such lands will be required for the purpose of the Department of National Defenc and for a consideration which will be determined by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council
Are we to understand that the "Tashcereau" project on part of late 44, Range I, Township of Languedoc, which has been mentioned in your letter of April 20, 1961, has now been abandoned?
As far as the new St Hedwidge project is concerned and which is mentioned in your letter of March 9th, it would appear that this site is located on a non-subdivided part of the Township of Meilleur. This part is affected by a leasing project, but it can be considered presently as vacant. You will have to make arrangements with the Forestry Division of our Department for the securing of a cutting licence. The other conditions of our letter of July 26th, 1961 also apply in this case.
You are no doubt aware of the existence of a forestry route at approximately two miles North of this station.
For administrative purposes, would you kindly supply us with additional copies of the following plans:
5 copies of plan B50-1-1000-1;
5 copies of plan N24-1-1000-1;
6 copies of plan L39-1000-1;
3 copies of plan L38-1-1000-1;
3 copies of plan S114-1-1000-1;
2 copies of plan S116-1-1000-1.
Yours truly,
JP Giroux
Assistant Deputy Minister
