Consulting Engineering Services Re: Gap Filler
Radar Stations in Northwestern Ontario - Various Sites
Contract No 122-7-157 Mickelson, Fraser & Haywood
Our DND 9 No 7844 in the amount of $14,500.00 was approved by Mr W Loynes on 30 Dec 60 and forwarded to DCL. This request provided for an amendment to the subject contract and an increase in authorized expenditure to cover the cost of preliminary engineering services required for gap filler radar stations at various new proposed sites in northwestern Ont as follows: Gold Rock, Graham (relocated), White Fish Lake and Manitouwadge.
DCL has now advised that the consultant has submitted an estimate totalling $7,337.00 as compared to our estimate of $4,000.00 for engineering work required at Graham (relocated). Reference DCL letter of 22 Aug 61 on file hereunder which requests consideration of additional authorization.
This matter has been reviewed and it is considered that this increase is due to a closer appreciation of the amount of time required to carry out the necessary work and the more difficult and longer distance required to reach the site. Please refer to CADIN/CoOrd minute No 2 dated 14 Sep hereunder.
It is therefore proposed to increase the authorized expenditure to an amount in keeping with the consultant's estimate for carrying out the required additional preliminary engineering work. The amount of the proposed increase is $3,337.00 and sufficient funds are available in Primary 41 FE40106.
The attached form DND 9 is submitted for your consideration and approval.
