Re: Forestry Towers in Northern Ontario,
Your File: 5-1 (CFP)
Dear Sirs:
Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of 15 February 1960. The following additional details are forwarded for your information.
Our letter of 3 February was intended to deal with only the technical aspects of our proposed installation and we wish to assure you that the legal aspects, including the ownership of the tower in the event that the site is abandoned, will be dealt with at a later date by the proper authorities.
As it is anticipated that our construction and installation contracts will extend over at least two summers, it is not intended to use the existing site of your tower nor expect your tower to be dismantled until our installation is completed.
Our consultant has completed the field surveys, but our plans have not been developed to the point at which they might be conveyed to interested parties, however, as soon as they reach that stage, we will advise your Department
The question of interferene with your radio communications will be investigated and you will be advised further on this matter.
Would you please advise whether our standard 75-foot tower, with fire lookout cabin at approximately 65 feet above the ground, will be satisfactory for forestry purposes at each site or where a 100-foot tower will be required.
At the sties in Hele and Errington Townships, our tower will be erected at least 1,000 feet away from your existing tower and mutual interference is not expected. Our tower will not have a fire lookout cabin on these sites.
Yours truly,
(JW Griffith)
