Re: Power Supply to Gap Filler
Radar Station - Tobermory, Ont.
Dear Sirs:
Further to our discussions with Mr MacPherson concerning the power supply to a number of small radar stations in Southern Ontario, we are forwarding herewith site information and a request for a proposal from you for this site. Enclosed are two copies of the following drawings pertaining to this site, RCAF numbers having not yet been assisgned to these drawings:-
General Site Plan, Siting Instruction Plan, Access Road Plan and Profile. One copy of RCAF Standard Drawing No S22-1049-1 entitiled Line Termination in Transformer Structure is also enclosed with the thought that since two copies accompanied the former submission, a single copy may suffice in this case.
We have been requestd to negotiate with you on behalf of the RCAF, without committment, for the installation and maintenance by the Ontario Hydro of a pole-mounted transformer station approximately as shown on the Standard Drawing, the installation of a new pole-mounted high voltage power service to the site, and the necessary improvements or extension of your existing distribution system to provide a service with the following capacity at this site:-
The Owners equipment will include a stand-by diesel generator set that will automatically cut-in after a 15 second failure of your power supply, and which will remain in operation during the outage and for 15 minutes after the resumption of your supply. They request that your transformer sub-station have three 37 1/2 KVA transformers for the above load. You are also requested to supply and install your own independent grounding sytem for the sub-station.
You will notice that we suggest a location for your pole line within the 66 ft right of way, beside the access road. We have also indicated the proposed location for a 60 ft house trailers which the owners may locate on this site. The location of this trailer should be considered when locating your sub-station. Would you therefore please forward to this office, at your earliest convenience, your proposal for the installation and maintenance of this equipment. Your proposal should show the suggested cost sharing arrangement, the rate structure and a suggested maintenance contract. Your proposal would then be forwarded from this office to the RCAF together with our recommendation as to its acceptance. This proposal is urgently required by the RCAF an anything you can do to expediate it would be appreciated.
We are still awaiting word from you as to the similar information requested for the Formosa Site accompanying our letter of May 30, 1961.
Yours very truly,
