F/O DHG Barnes was a pilot with 441 Squadron at 1 (F) Wing, Marville France. He was killed when his aircraft (Sabre #23555) crashed in Deccimomanau.
Extracts from 1 Wing Historical Narrative
243810 F/O DHG Barnes Air/P of 441 Sqn died in a crash at Decimomannu, Sardinia on Thursday 20 November 1958. Funeral services were held for F/O Barnes on Tuesday 25 November at 0900 hrs in the Protestant Chapel at 1 Wing, Marville. S/L Ry Cannon was OC of the funeral parade. Burial took place at Toul Cemetary.
