Danny Gould Day

Danny Gould was a FtrCop who was stationed in Metz (circa 1959-1962). He had a certain personality that everyone loved and he was a very well liked individual. Perhaps a little eccentric at times, he drove his vehicle like a maniac, but he managed to survived three years at Metz while employed with 61 AC&W Squadron.

He finished his tour at Metz and was transferred to CFB Bagotville in Canada. Shortly after he returned to Canada, an airwoman friend of his was driving his car, and they got into an accident where Danny lost his life.

Danny had directed (in his will), that money be left to the Airmen's club at Metz so that these airmen and airwomen could celebrate his passing. The Airmen's Club in Metz purchased a plaque and set it in the fireplace in his remembrance. I would like to know what ever happen to that plaque. Each year we celebrated his passing with a party in the club. We called it "Danny Gould Day", and a good time was had by all. I do not know if the tradition continued with the move to Lahr. I left Metz in August 65 and we were still celebrating "Danny Gould Day" at that time.

Pinetree Line Web Site Note: We were able to determine that LAC D Gould was on strength at 61 AC&W Squadron as of 1 January 1962. It is assumed that he was transferred to Canada in 1962. We have not been able to determine the exact date of his death. The photo below indicates the "2nd Danny Gould Day - 1965" which indicates the first event would have taken place in 1964.
