Officers were hosts at a New Year's reception held in the Mess.

F/L JD Bell, C Train O, relinquished his position upon transfer. His duties were taken over by F/L EM Humphrey.

19 Jan 57

Twenty members of this Unit journeyed to St Sylvestre by chartered bus to relieve the Regular Force from operational duties for the weekend.

27 Jan 57

Nine F/O's wrote Qualifying Exams (A/S Fighter Control) and three F/L's wrote the General Service Knowledge paper.

28 Jan 57

S/L Sarty, SOGT ADCHQ, visited the unit to discuss ground training problems.

Recruiting for summer training of RTTP's commenced.

10 Feb 57

Eight candidates wrote the GSK Qualifying Exams (Aux) and four attempted the A/S Fighter Controller F/L Qualifying Exam.

20 Feb 57

Staff visit by S/L GJ Moir and F/L Malone, SORP ADC HQ.

23 Feb 57

A/C CL Annis, Chief of Telecommunications, AFHQ, while in Sherbrooke as guest speaker at RCAF Association convention, paid a visit to the unit.

F/L JL McMahon ADCHQ, discussed Controller training with COpsO and Support Officer during evening training program.

LAC J Poirier Clk Typ Adm Regular Force was posted to RCAF Station North Bay, and replaced in the Orderly Room by LAC H Lacasse.

13 Mar 57

The Optimists Club of Waterville, Que, were taken on a conducted tour of the Unit.

20 Mar 57

Approximately 60 basic airmen have been processed to date for RTTP summer training.

Weekend contact training at St Sylvestre is now limited to personnel who have been security cleared. This ruling prohibits attendance of several airmen whose security documents were submitted when they were taken on strength of the Unit, but no security clearance action has been taken. Request has been submitted that these airmen be granted a provisional clearance to allow them to continue their training on a Regular Force station on weekends.

The Officers were guests of the Border Curling Club at Beebe, Que where a very enjoyable evening was spent curling.

To date 75 RTTP have been enrolled, 160 applicants having been interviewed by Recruiting Officer.

S/L O Leveque ADC visited the Unit.

10 Apr 57

S/L Walker SEO and S/L Morrison SSO on liaison from St Hubert.

13 Apr 57

First RTTP training parade for purpose of providing personnel with proper service indoctrination prior to commencement of full time trade training on 2 July. Parades will be held each Saturday and only those who successfully complete this Phase I training will be accepted for full time training during months of July and August.

Sixteen airmen wrote trade tests and one A/S FtrC attempted Phase I exam.

Upon disbandment of 1 Gp HQ (Aux) control of Unit transferred to ADCHQ.

S/L GW O'Boyle CO and F/L JA Cameron CAdO attended Mess Dinner at RCAF Stn St Sylvestre.

May 57

During this six month period controllers and trainees have attended weekend training at St Sylvestre every second week, and have made very satisfactory progress in their trade. The Unit now has on strength six fully qualified controllers and hope that in the next report this number will be increased to 10.

A Sports Night was held every second month for all personnel of the Unit. Crew teams particpated in such games as volleyball, basketball, hockey, bowling and table tennis, and swimming was enjoyed during the course of a sports evening at the local YWCA.

F/L FR Sarty ADCHQ visited Unit on TD to discuss ground training problems.

27 May 57

The senior students of Waterville High School with their principal and School Commissioner were conducted around the building and observed the trainees at work in the operations room.

A marked improvement in dress and deportment of members of the Unit is due largely to the efforts of LAC JD LeBrun who serves as Station Warrant Officer. He has proved himself most efficient as drill instructor during exercises held in preparation for the annual inspection by ADC officers and the impending change of command to take place on 15 June.
