There is no recruiting of new members this fall due to a new policy issued by AFHQ which affects the present establishment. The new establishment which will be effective 1 Feb 58, will bring the officers' strength down to 73, 55 of which will be FtrC; other ranks strength will be reduced to 172 of which 120 will be Ftr COp. As these new figures have to be attained by 1 Feb 58, recruiting is replaced by the release of all personnel in excess of above figures. The purpose of this new policy is to allow the unit to concentrate on the training of personnel available so as to produce at an early date an operational return of trained personnel.

A new policy on movements of personnel on TD is also issued and will affect weekend training at parent unit: GMT becmes the only approved means of transportation for TD. One vehicle is loaned to the Sqn and therefore it becomes possible for a maximum of only 8 people to proceed to parent unit at a time. A few officers have to obtain ME6 to drive vehicle.
