Intensive review in preparation for Trade Tests

Air Force Day - 2000 people shown through Ames-11 Convoy. Equipment gave excellent performance. Operation pronounced successful by all concerned.

All personnel absorbed into permanent force positions applicable to their trades. Training and practical experience received invaluable, eg lectures received by all telecom personnel on TPS-501, IFF and FPS-3 equipment - also communications equipment and telephone layout. Everyone most co-operative and hospitality knew no bounds. Off-duty hour's activities well organized under supervision of F/O Cohen, eg trip to Sigma mines of great interest, also tours of countryside, swimming runs, farewell dance prior to departure, etc. From every conceivable point of training and otherwise proved to be the best Eastern Summer Camp attended by this Squadron.

June Trade Test results showed: 1 AW FtrCOp obtained Group 2, 1 AW Clk Acct obtained Group 2, 6 AWs FtrCOps obtained Group 1 and 1 AC qualified to remuster Rdr Tech (G) Group 1.
19 Aug 55
S/L Sarty, ADC, S/L Peters and F/L Wheeler, AFHQ, paid liaison visit to the Squadron. Discussions on Education interviews and Progress of RTTP, training aids, etc.
Meeting held during month to line up training syllabus for fall.
Annual overhaul of AMES-11 by party of three from 10 RD Calgary completed 31 Aug 55.
1 Sep 55
First parade of fall season. Classes organized and under way; lectures, synthetic exercises etc. New Philco Trainer equipment in use by both communications and radar trainees. TPS-501 equipment returned to AMC for logistics support.
Results of Exams written by personnel on two months summer employment showed 1 AC & 1 AW Ftr COp, obtained Group 2, 1 AC Comm PC (G), Group 2.

Promotion Board showed 1 Sgt FtrCOp promoted to F/S, 1 A/Sgt Comm Tech promoted to substantive rank, 1 Cpl AW FtrCOp promoted to Sgt, two A/Cpls to substantive rank and 1 LAW FtrCOp to Cpl.

17 Wing HQ Staff visit from F/L Klaponski, W Tch O, and F/L Somers W Sec O. AWs Mehmel and Saunders, Ftr Cops and AW Bell, Clk Acct, joined Regular Force.

Ten Controllers in process of joining Squadron. Two Controllers ready for Phase 1 exams. Synthetic schemes most weekends either at Squadron or 916th AC&W. Controllers taking full advantage of weekend training facilities at 916th Sqn. Nine Controllers completing Phase 2.

Controlling operation: Armistice Day Fly Past - Control truck set up at Cenotaph (cancelled due to weather).

S/L Grant, F/L Riddle and F/O Turner took part in a TV Show where various phases of training at 2402 were explained and demonstrated.
Strength as of 30 November 55 - 30 Officers, 87 Airmen, 25 Airwomen - Total 142.
