Plans were formulated in April for a weekend training trip to RCAF Stn Cold Lake for all officers of this unit the end of May. Purpose was to acquaint personnel with the communications setup in the operations room for the forth coming summer camp training at Cold Lake. Twenty-three officers proceeded by airlift 23 May. The exercise was planned by F/L F Marsh COpsO & his staff. All synthetic equipment used was designed by F/L AW Hutching and F/L AD Houchin. The complete operation was carried out 23 & 24 May. Admin staff were employed in FtrCOp postions during the operation. During the exercise, several short-comings were found in the communications equipment and these will be rectified before the commencement of summer camp training. On the basis of the above, the operation was highly successful as it achieved the purpose for which it was formulated.
Training was also given to four Phase I Controllers. Intercept practice on the scopes was under the supervision of S/L Ings. F/O K Wheatley & F/O S Boczar were given Phase II evaluations by F/L J Hilton of RCAF Stn Cold Lake.
