Reserve 2416 AC&WU Summer Camp Training Instructions
4 Aug to 18 Aug 51.

INFORMATION

2416 AC&WU will encamp at Stn Chatham and Stn Summerside from 4 Aug to 18 Aug 51. Personnel from this unit are to have access to the AMES-11 Convoys but are not to be permitted to enter the AC&WU building.

  1. Two week courses are to be conducted by Stn Chatham and Summerside on a contact training basis using CAP 464, section numbers as applicable as required as a guide for this instruction, a general coverage of the operation and administrative organization of the AC&W system, and the function of its operational components and related agencies, should be covered in class room instructions. Instruction in the operation procedures of the AC&W system, and the responsibilities of control center personnel, and the organization and function of communications in the AC&W system should also be included in lectures.

  2. Following is a list of courses to be conducted together with references to be used as a guide to assist in carrying out these lectures.

    Communications Technicians (Ground)

    1. Ref CAP 464 - J16

      General transmitter theory
      General receiver theory
      General antenna theory
      Instruction on tuning eqpt in use

    2. Radar technician (Ground)

      Ref CAP 464 - J18

      General transmitter theory
      General receiver theory
      General antenna theory
      Instruction on tuning eqpt in use

    3. Communications Operator

      Ref CAP 464 O J11, J12, J13, and J14

      1. An elementary knowledge of basic radio theory is requried. Instruction is to be of as practical a nature as possible.

      2. Students are to be made conversant with the equipment they are to use. (D/F, W/T, R/T and T/T).
    4. Fighter Control Officers & Fighter Control Operators

      Operational Training Directive Issued.

F/L Dewan and F/O Oldfin are appointed training offices for Chatham and Summerside respectively for the summer camp period.

Movements of Personnel

The following is the airlift schedule for 2416 AC&WU:

  1. Airlift for 90 personnel has been arranged by ATC for 4 Aug 51 as follows:

    45 personnel Rockcliffe to Summerside
    45 personnel Rockcliffe to Chatham

  2. Airlift for 90 personnel has been arranged by ATC for 18 aug 51 as follows:

    45 personnel Summerside to Rockcliffe
    45 personnel Chatham to Rockcliffe

Accommodation

CO's Chatham and Summerside will each provide accommodation for 45 personnel.

Security

Action is to be taken to ensure that all security regulations and precautions are observed.

Reports

  1. OC of 2416 AC&WU is to submit a critique at the end of the training period

  2. The reserve support telecommunications officer is to submit a full report on all telecommunications aspects of the summer training.
