Commanding Officers of 2442 AC&W Squadron display historic squadron crest to Air Commodore GG Truscott (left) OBE, CD, Commander of 5 Air Division. The Aircraft Control and Warning squadron was disbanded at a special ceremony at Station Vancouver January 22. Its function had been replaced by SAGE. The squadron badge, the first military crest granted by Queen Elizabeth following her Coronation is now being returned to the College of Heralds in England. Commanding Officers since inception of the squadron in 1950 are Sqdn Ldr David Manders, MBE (second from left) retired, Sqdn Ldr Tom Ellison, DFC, CD, CO at disbandment and Sqdn Ldr JGF Grey, CD, retired. Wing Com Fred Sproule, DFC, CD, retired (not shown) also served as CO from 1951-55.
