Operations:

The newly enlarged break room in operations was completed, furniture and equipment moved in, and put into use. The operational capability of this activity has remained constant in the mission performance maintained at the high standard required for Air Defense. Operations for the period of this report were normal and routine with no outstanding or difficult problems being encountered.

The following training hours were accomplished by Operations personnel using the following equipment: AN/UPS-T5 = 20:00 hours, AN/UPS-T2 = 80:00 hours, ECCM training = 60:00 hours.

Personnel:

On 30 January 1961 this organization sent ten (10) Airmen TDY to Goose ADS for the purpose of participating in the 64^th AD Basketball tournament. S/Sgt. Lewis attended RAMAC instruction course at Goose AB. A/2C R Russell departed on TDY to West Chester, PA, for the purpose of attending a course on the Operation of the newly received mechanical cow. During this period six airmen were promoted to A/1C and one airman promoted to A/2C. S/Sgt. Thompson was selected to attend the retirement ceremonies of General Atkinson at ADC and was placed on TDY for this purpose. S/Sgt. J Brannum was selected to attend Arctic Survival School at Goose Bay and later instructed personnel of this organization on this subject. During this period this unit was called upon to assist the 920^th with help in the 62250 field. We placed A/2C Davis on TDY for this purpose. Major Yaryan (Commander) was placed on TDY to Tyndall AFB, Florida for the purpose of attending 64^th Air Division Headquarters Conference. CM/Sgt. Bryant Jr. was selected to attend the NCO Conference held at Goose AFB. S/Sgt. Shepheard attended the 64^th AD Operations Conference at the 641^st AC&W Squadron. Lt. Bright (Administrative Officer) departed for the ConUS and Lt. Joyce (IEO Officer) assumed his duties. During this period M/Sgt. MacDonnel (First Sergeant) departed to the ConUS. His duties were assumed by M/Sgt. Dudley (IEO NCOIC) in addition to his other duties. During this period A/1C Malone, A/1C Martin and A/1C Wityzak made Airman of the Month. It was during this period that record consolidation went into operation at Goose ADS.

Facilities:

The following manhours were expended by members of this organization in snow removal operation: 144 manhours for the month of January, 175 manhours for the month of February and 106 manhours for the month of March. Snowfall, in general, has been rather light this year with a total snowfall of 45 inches being recorded up to 31 March 1961. Electrical power generated by this stations power plant is as follows: 354,00 KW January, 210,800 KW for February and 336,500 KW for March. The heating plant and power plant were repainted and all facilities were thoroughly cleaned.

Supply:

This period was devoted to a general refining of all supply functions to bring the operation up to acceptable Air Force standards. A major part of the task was bringing the UAL in consonance with equipment on hand. Property was inventories, authorization sources were screened and UAL change requests consisting of 43 pages were prepared.

Community Relations:

This organizations personnel have been briefed on the President’s "Person to Person" program. In keeping with this, this squadron is formulating a plan for an Open House to be held on Armed Forces Day.

Morale:

Morale is very high at this station. Squadron health remains in a satisfactory condition with treatments being of a minor nature
