Box 3010, File 895-5/89, Frobisher:
This file contains a copy of the agreement between USAF and DOT on the responsibilities of both for the military facilities around Frobisher, with emphasis on the airport. The agreement states who will be responsible for what. The radar site was unoffically known as the upper base and officially known as Baffin Island Air Station. As a US airfield, Frobisher Bay airport was known as the 4085th Air Base Squadron; there never was a reference to Frobisher Air Force Base (AFB) or Air Base (AB). The DOT agreed to maintain all roads to the airport and those going to the upper base. The DOT also agreed to the unloading and loading of all supplies at the airport bound for the 4085th, the upper base, Resolution Island, and the DEW Line.
This detail was obtained from the National Archives of Canada.
