1997 - General History - The NBC Group

The 226 Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron (callsign Eyebrow) was located at Gander, Newfoundland (C-25). On 1 November 1966, the squadron was reduced in status to a NORAD Surveillance Station. The squadron was renamed as 226 Radar Squadron Gander on 26 July 1978 and disbanded on 1 July 1990. There is a new Canadian Coastal Radar site now located at Gander.

The unofficial motto of the Squadron was "The Best Dam Outfit in the Business". Note the spelling of the word "Dam".
