1997 - Additional Details - Ren L'Ecuyer

Part of North East Air Command - 64th Air Division. One of the original Pinetree Line sites. This location was financed by the USAF. The Canadian Forces moved into Gander early after 1949 and in 1951, they took over control of the new American-built AC&W station. The thirty acre site is known today as a Canadian Forces Base, being elevated to that status from a Canadian Forces Station in 1964. The base had a total military and civilian complement of 450 personnel in 1990.
