AN/FPS-93A – Two Channel Prime Radar, AN/FPS-90 Radar Height Finder, AN/GPX-7A Radar Identification, 16 Cummins Diesel Generators, 8 AN/GRC-27 Multi-Channel UHF Transmitter-Receivers, 6 AN/GRR-7 Single Channel UHF Transmitter, 3 MF/URG-60 VHF Receivers, 6 AN/GRR-7 Single Channel Receivers, 6 T-5002/FRT-502, Two 225 HP Steam Boilers.

Operations:

Officer manning in the Operations Section, authorized strength 13, assigned strength is 13. One new officer reported in during this period, Captain Verne W Woznack. Airman manning in the Operations Section for this quarter is 33 NCOs authorized, 32 assigned; 52 airmen authorized, 48 assigned. There were 24 new airmen assigned this quarter. During this quarter the 641^st AC&W Squadron was evaluated by 1^st Air Force TAC Eval Teams, Northern NORAD NOE and ADC ORI Teams. This squadron participated in 7 live exercises and 8 STM missions. Training hours accomplished by officers and airmen during this quarter: Weapons Controllers have accomplished 470 hours of academic and ECM training. Airmen have accomplished 9,665 hours of academic and ECM training. During this quarter 6,695 flight plans were processed by this section. There were 38 unknowns, 11 active air scrambles and 1,022 practice intercepts.

Communications and Electronics:

With an influx of 3 level airmen, training has become the by word of this section. Voltage regulators and more air conditioning were installed in the T-4 room to reduce over heating problems and voltage regulation problems. During the ORE of 13 September 1966, this section was judged outstanding by Northern NORASD and 1^st Air Force. During the ORI of 24 September 1966, this section was judged outstanding by Air Defense Command. The following named personnel were assigned during this quarter: T/Sgt. Jones, S/Sgt. Ingalls, A/1C Johnson, A/1C Green, A/2C Nebus, S/Sgt. Zielinski, A/2C Bohnen, S/Sgt. Tong, S/Sgt. Hostetler, S/Sgt. Schurian, and A/2C Ferguson. The following named personnel were transferred during this quarter: A/1C Mechaley, A/2C Anglemouer, A/2C Mucahey, A/2C Currie, A/1C Grainger, A/1C Dodge, S/Sgt. Rex and A/1C Villines.

Civil Engineering:

The station Preventative Maintenance Team accomplished routine PM work this quarter. Preparing for the coming winter months was stressed. This included jobs such as repairing broken windows, replacing leaking steam traps, repairing outdoor receptacles, etc. The MMT completed the following work orders this quarter: WO 124-66 -–roof repairs on buildings S-1585, S-1577, S-1570 and S-1600 corridors. O&M Project Status: MEL 4-7 paint various facilities, approximately 50% completed; MEL 3-6 install water line to S-1539, contract has been awarded. MEL 4-6 maintain septic tanks, 15% complete. Personnel actions: Losses – Mr. Gerald Melvin and Mr. Aiden Ward, Power Plant Operators. Gains – S/Sgt. Robert A Flaugher, Refrigeration Specialist. Leaves during the quarter: Lt. GE Adams, Mr. EP Fitzpgerald, Mr. F Hicks, Mr. M Myers, Mr. W Gosse, Mr. J Swain and Mr. E Dunn. Fire Prevention: There were no actual fires this quarter. Eight fire drills were conducted. There were twelve auxiliary firemen training classes and four indoctrination classes for newly assigned personnel.

Unit Supply and Food Services:

The parts that were requisitioned for the 12 Work Orders for Civil Engineering are coming in at a steady pace. Over half of these work orders are complete and awaiting the arrival of the Mobile Maintenance Team to begin work. Forty Two storage bins were received by Unit Supply for the re-warehousing of the 90 Tower and Unit Supply. At present all bins required by Unit Supply have been assembled in the Unit Supply area. A target date has been set for 3 October 1966 for 90 Tower bins. The list of equipment prepared by the Disaster Control Officer, which is required for the training of all personnel assigned to this station, is just about 100% complete. A few of the BEMO controlled items has an estimated delivery date of February and March of 1967. Personnel changes include a rotation of supply officers during the month of July. During the months of August and September we gained three airmen who are replacements for Sgt. Thompson and Sgt. Edwards. Our civilian clerk was hired in July, but quit in September due to personal and/or family problems. A civilian replacement is expected in early October 1966. Food Service – During the month of July, work on the Dining Hall Rehabilitation Project was temporarily halted due to the lack of Marlite Panelling. This panelling is still in transit. During the first part of July, and all out effort was directed towards the Inspector General’s Team visit. The Dining Hall received a satisfactory rating. The pallets have been painted in the storeroom and paint placed on requisition for painting of the shelves in the refrigeration room.

Administration:

One of the most important events of this period was an ORE conducted by Northern NORAD and First Air Force Teams during the period 13-14 September 1966. The overall evaluation of the unit was satisfactory, but there were some areas that were unsatisfactory. These areas are receiving priority attention and all deficiencies will be corrected just as soon as possible. The next event was an ADC ORI which was conducted on 24-25 September 1966 and the squadron came out with an overall satisfactory rating and in several areas outstanding. There were no new arrivals during this period. There were two departures, M/Sgt. Olaf H Peterson, First Sergeant and A/1C Stevens B Butler, Administrative Specialist, who left in July. Still no replacement for the First Sergeant. M/Sgt. John B O’Malley was selected from the Operations Section to fill the First Sergeants position.
