Calibration Van Team arrived this unit.

Boneyard – ECM training by 2 CF-100s approximately 5 hours training for AJO.

30256 S/L S Lebedovich Tech/Tel SOS to CFHQ/ATMS/CAE/DAITel.

Winnebago Echo XXV – Participated in Mode II training and HRI operations during Mode III.

Mode III – 7 hours Mode III during which there were height requests.

Mr. CA Rose arrived this unit to install and test one modified 38A2 chassis.

Mr. Jean Charles Ouelette and Moel Bazinet arrived from Marconi to inspect AN/FPS-6 antenna system and assist in replacement of azimuth drive assembly.

Top Rung XI – 29^th and 30^th NORAD ECM exercise lasted approximately 8 hours. ECM encountered on Search, HF0 and HF1. Data recorded on special IBM formats for this exercise.

64172 F/O L Glussich Air/P SOS to 3 AW OTU Bagotville.

Mr. Everett Cipperley and Sherman Cunningham arrived from Marconi for a period of six days for IF amplifier modification and delay line oven test and repair.

Mr. Stewart Gibson and Mr. John Kenny arrived this unit from Marconi for a period of two days to perform repairs to OMNI directional antenna on FPS-27.

GATE – ECM exercises over a two day period, sixteen hours training for AJO in ECCM fixes and passive tracking.

FS E Winterburn, 245074 Cpl. GO Stanley and 50719 Cpl LD Proteua arrived this unit from Winnipeg to conduct Nuclear Defence Training.

Snow Time XVI – This exercise was cancelled 3 hours before commencement of exercise.

Desk Top VIII – This unit did not participate in this exercise with the exception of Trusted Agent inputs.

Mr. Torrance arrived from Marconi to fix antenna nod on FPS-26. Mr. Ford arrived from AMC to complete AFTO 89s.

BUIC Phase II – This was an exercise between Duluth and Calumet on Mode III switching. Calumet took over TDDL and Height for approximately 2 hours. There were two Mode III switches over conference with Calumet.

Big Blast George – This was an ECM exercise for approximately two hours. Fakes did pass within 150 miles. ECM was very poor.

Organization – The positions of SCOO and STelO were renamed Telecommunications Operations Officer and Telecommunications Maintenance Officer. The DOO position was deleted. This cut our Tech/Tel officer strength from six to three officers.

Winnebago Echo III – Nil participation in ECM, but switched to Mode III configuration for approximately 1 hour. Conference circuit to Calumet quite poor.

Mode III – Conference with Calumet for approximately 3 hours. Switching to Mode III done once. Conference circuit quite poor.

GATE – Participation in ECM exercise for 3 days. SIF Jamming used for first time in months.

The ASWelO visited the unit from TCHQ Winnipeg.

Station EDP – F/O Park from ADCHQ conducted a surprise EDP for a period of 5 hours.

Conference Loop Test – Sector loops were tested for about one hour to determine how they may be best set up during exercises.

Mode III – Mode III was declared over conference loop and applied for 4 ½ hours.

Mode III – Mode III for entire day shift, during SIM TAC EVAL of 29 ND.

ORI – Participation in this operational readiness inspection of 29 ND consisted of answering height requests and reporting a small amount of mechanical ECM.

Winnebago Echo VI – No ECM. Mode III for 2 hours.

RSA Team – The annual inspection team gave the station a 96% average. Operations had 99%.

Mode III – Calumet exercised full Mode III for 6 hours.

29775 F/O RH Sitland Supply TOS from MATCOMHQ/SSupSO to be SLogO. F/L Harvey ASWelO from TCHQ made his regular visit to this unit.

19489 F/O GL Crowder Supply SOS to CFB Rockcliffe.

Party composed of Mr. GL Ryan MATCOM, FS Sweeney ADCHQ, Sgt. Paddick Station Lowther, and FS Hulley, Cpl. Nicherson and Cpl. McWhirter from Armstrong did a review of FPS-27 work cards hoping to be able to eventually simplify PM’s for the FPS-27.

EDP Station. The Station EDP was exercised and the results were very good.

Approximately 80 people visited this unit and had a tour through the operations site on Air Force Day.

Colonel Anglin from RCDC 14 Dental Company Winnipeg inspected the dental facilities at this unit.

Mode III – Complete Mode III with Calumet for the day shift.

F/O Besner, FS McIntosh, Cpl. Barber and O/C MacDonald visited 29 HQ in Duluth and AFB Calumet for a familiarization tour.

WO2 Stewart 14 Dental Company Winnipeg arrived this unit to repair dental equipment. Mode III – a partial Mode III (TDDL) was exercised for one hour.

FS Winsor was appointed i/c Ground Training following the transfer of Sgt. Nault.

F/O Shore, F/O Sitland and O/C Deacon visited 29^th HQ Duluth for a familiarization tour.

Mandan Brave IX – This regions live exercise was conducted for a period of 6 hours. Both electronic and mechanical jamming were encountered. No jamming on height finder. Mode III exercised.

Winnebago Knife – Battle Staff Support participated with Calumet.

Mode IV – Bell Telephone representatives arrived to install Mode IV A/G/A equipment. This equipment will be installed by the target date of 8 Jul 66. 138630 F/L GW Garnier Air/P TOS from 3 AW OUT Bagotville to be OC Otter Flight.

Mr. HF Kennedy from MATCOM Quality Assurance Branch arrived to inspect contractor work on radomes. This work will be completed in mid July.

Mr. Kennedy AMCHQ and paint crew arrived to paint radomes.

RL Seabrook reported to unit for the purpose of construction of combined mess extension project to be carried out by #1 Construction Engineering Unit from Station Winnipeg. F/L Harvey from TCHQ Staff Officer Welfare visited the unit. Handing over parade W.C LM Pederson to W/C CR Aikens. Mode IV exercise – Guard and AICC frequencies for Mode IV autonomous operation hooked up. TAC frequencies to come.

Passive Tracking Mission – Second in a series of monthly passive tracking training missions conducted by Duluth. This is accomplished by the use of a SIF strobe simulator. The exercise lasted about one hour and was fairly successful.

Motorcycle accident on Station in which 73844 LAC RC Crozier from Station Sioux Lookout was injured and Mr. DD Feddery was killed. Station Armstrong team beat Station Sioux Lookout in the fastball Zone 3 championship.

38099 F/O JJBR Verret ACC TOS from AWU Decimomannu to be SAO. Exercise Mandan Indian IV – Battle Staff Support Center and Trusted Agent participation only in this Mode I/III exercise.

Mode III exercise – A full Mode III was conducted with Calumet for the day shift.

Exercise Mandan Brave X – This exercise was conducted for a period of five hours and required BSSC and ECCMO staff.
