    COMMENTARY

    Personnel Administration:

    Personnel records have been screened and are ready for movement to Duluth Municipal Airport for conversion to PCAM.

    During this reporting period, three (3) airmen were lost. Two (2) airmen and one (1) officer were gained. All authorized CUMD vacancies are filled.

    Communications – Electronics:

    The CAE Depot Team visited in January and March. Test equipment was repaired and calibrated in January. All radar maintenance personnel assisted the CAE Team in March to perform Depot level maintenance on the AN/FPS-3C, SIF, and pressurizing units.

    The installations team for the AN/FPS-6B is expected to arrive 24 April 1961.

    The 4602nd Support Wing inspected the section in March, and a minimum of discrepancies were noted.

    Air Police:

    Four (4) airmen were lost and two (2) gained during the reporting period. Two radiac sets, AN/PDR-39 and AN/PDR-27C, were lost to the 4602nd Support Wing. A laminating machine for processing various ID cards was received.

    Supply:

    During the reporting period six (6) airmen were lost and five (5) were gained.

    Project "Money Tree" was implemented and one visit was conducted by the 4602nd Support Wing (ADC) concerning this area.

    The Supply Officer and NCOIC visited the dry cleaning and laundry contractor in Port Arthur, Ontario.

    Installations:

    The Multi-Purpose Recreation building was completed and accepted in March. This facility has already been established as a primary morale factor. It has provided increased snack bar, exchange and library facilities, and has added bowling, practice golf, weight lifting and calisthenic areas.

    Operations:

    During the reporting period, one (1) Officer was gained and one (1)lost. Eight (8) airmen were gained and five (5) lost. Of the ten (10) officers assigned, four (4) have achieved Combat Ready Skilled status, six (6) have become Combat Ready, and one (1) remained in training status.

    Operations participated in six (6) live missions and twelve (12) SSTMs and controlled two hundred and forty-four (244) single and forty-six (46) multiple intercepts.

    Early in January, the four crew system was abandoned in favor of a three crew schedule. The majority of the crew training programs have been conducted during the day shift as a result of this change.
