Section II COMMENTARY |

Communications – Electronics: Construction of the SAGE Annex, Powerhouse Annex, TELCO Building, GATR Building and FD Radar Towers is in progress. No major problems have occurred and construction is on schedule. Radar maintenance personnel have extended the life of the AN/FPS-6B magnetron to 5400 radiate hours. Wire maintenance has begun rewiring the main distribution frame. Ten and five line units will be relocated and the wire maintenance efficiency increased as a result of this project. C&E personnel devoted many off duty hours to supply electrical power for the squadron ski-tow. Supply: The fourth "Project Money Tree" report was submitted. This unit was rated third by the 4602nd Support Wing. Traffic Management processed 37 outgoing and 46 incoming shipments. Supplies and equipment began arriving for the RCAF. Supplies and equipment are being accepted for the FST-2. Supplies and equipment are being accepted for the GATR Building. Operations: Three officers completed re-evaluation and one officer was upgraded to Combat Ready. There were two live exercises, Sky Shield II and Shock Wave. There were three regional and eleven Sector SSTMs. One rated officer completed Instrument school and his annual instrument check. 71:45 of 85 hours allocated were used. The L-20 aircraft completed periodic inspection. Special Services: Additional skiing and ice skating equipment was added to our property inventory. A rope type ski tow was added to the slope. A holiday bowling tournament was held with great success. 50% of personnel present for duty during the holiday period participated. Unit Administration: Detailed plans for transfer of the station to the RCAF were completed. Each airman was given individual consideration in deciding on extension or curtailment of tours. |
