    COMMENTARY

    Command:

    Morale and unit effectiveness remained exceptionally high.

    The Group III Site Phase-out plan continues to be used as a guide and no problems are anticipated.

    Supervisory Staff Visit was conducted by the 4602nd Support Wing and no major discrepancies were noted.

    Relationship with the civil law enforcement agencies, local merchants and other indigenous personnel remains cordial and co-operative.

    Personnel and Administration:

    Personnel Changes – CWO (W4) Albert V Sangermano replaced 1st Lt. Donald D Hutchison as Administrative Officer. SM/Sgt. William F Thurton replaced CM/Sgt. Harold H Krueger as First Sergeant.

    Machine Roster support from the Duluth Sector was inadequate. Rosters identified by ADCM 30-3 were not received. We anticipate resolution of this problem as soon as the Sector Machine Room becomes fully operational.

    Special Services:

    The squadron completed. Through off duty airman labor, a 485 foot ski tow.

    All special services property was inventoried and the boats, motors, and associated recreational equipment was rehabilitated.

    Supply:

    The 914th Unit Supply received a plaque as the best contributing unit on the Pinetree Line for project "Money Tree". The unit showed a total monetary saving of $98,611.78.

    The Engineering Installations Supply function has been assumed by Unit Supply and is functioning satisfactorily.

    Communications and Electronics:

    Construction of the SAGE annex, powerhouse extension, Frequency Diversity Radar towers, Telephone Company and Ground/Air Transmitter Receiver buildings is proceeding with no major problems encountered.

    The AN/FPS-6B magnetron has 7,500 radiate hours.

    All test equipment was calibrated and/or repaired by the depot team.

    Operations:

    Five officers were upgraded to Combat Ready (Skilled) Intercept Directors. All airman OJT is progressing satisfactorily.

    Two "live", 3 Region, and 16 Sector SSTM exercises were conducted.

    Aircraft maintenance was adequate. We used 90:55 of 110 hours allotted for flying.

    Food Service:

    M/Sgt. Michael W DeMatteis was replaced as Food Service Supervisor by T/Sgt. Hassel W Blankenship.

    The activity furnished 29,700 meals during the reporting period.

    Support from the RCAF depot is adequate and no problems were encountered in the Food Service section.

    Information and Education:

    Captain Roger FA Arias was replaced as Library Officer by 1st Lt. Pierre A Dillman.

    Three Officers and 18 airmen enrolled in off duty correspondence courses.

    Motor Transportation:

    Seat belts have been installed on all vehicles.

    Air Police:

    No serious incidents were encountered during the reporting period.
