- The following report, prepared in accordance with reference A, consists of a brief record of activities on the Station listed in chronological order from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 85. Attached at Annex A is a list of Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and the number of Men on strength as of 31 Dec 85. Attached at Annex B are training and strength change statistics:
- January
:
1. Exercise: This Station participated in the following Exercises::
(a) Exercise 25/CW BRAVE 85-2 from 9 to 10 Jan 85..
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Captain McLeod, Warrant Officer Butler and Warrant Officer Armstrong for a Supply Assistance visit from 20 to 25 Jan 85;
- Chief Warrant Officer Ouellette for a Command Chief Warrant Officers visit from 28 to 30 Jan 85; and
- Lieutenant Wittmeir for an ASWO visit from 30 to 31 Jan 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Butt Out course 9 Jan 85;
- Fire Fighting training 19 Jan 85;
- First Aid training 9 to 11 Jan 85;
- Safe Backing Course 16 to 18 Jan 85; and
- Safety Management course 28 to 31 Jan 85.

: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- GYPSUM 85-2 (Station Exercise) from 12 to 14 Feb 85;
- FABRIC DOLLY (Battlestaff Exercise) from 18 to 19 Feb 85; and
- WINTEX-CIMEX 85 Phase I from 26 Feb to 4 Mar 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
(a) Chief Warrant Officer Chambers for a Staff Assistance visit on CE Procedures.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 23 Feb 85.;
4. The PCB containment site was completed.
C - March:
- Exercises: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- WINTEX-CIMEX 85 Phase II from 7 to 13 Mar 85; and
- Emergency Defence Plan Exercise from 1 to 2 Mar 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Warrant Officer Dunford, Warrant Officer Bryant and Warrant Officer Gascon on 3 to 7 Mar 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training on 8 Mar 85; and
- Fire Fighter training on 22 Mar 85.

: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- AMALGAM CHIEF 85-2 Phase II (Live Exercise) from 3 to 4 Apr 85;
- FABRIC DOLLY 85-607 (Battlestaff Exercise) on 23 Apr 85; and
- MAPLE FLAG (SAC Exercise) on 30 Apr 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Lieutenant Wittmeir for an ASWO visit on 3 to 4 Apr 85;
- Major Hockney for a Dental visit from 29 Apr to 10 May 85;
- Major Alexander, Sergeant Tremblay for a RMED Staff visit from 29 Apr to 2 May 85; and
- Chief Warrant Officer McLean for a MET Inspection from 30 Apr to 1 May 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 4, 11, 18 and 23 Apr 85;
- Fire Fighter Training Phase II (8 personnel qualified) 23 to 26 Apr 85;
- Projectionist course 10 Apr 85; and
- Security Education briefing 30 Apr 85.
E - May:
- Exercises
: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- AMALGAM MUTE 85-4 (Canadian NORAD Region Evaluation Part I) from 7 to 9 May 85;
- AMALGAM MUTE 85-4 (Canadian NORAD Region Evaluation Part II) on 10 May 85;
- GYPEX (BDF training) on 23 May 85; and
- MAPLE FLAG (SAC Exercise) on 1, 2, 16 and 23 May 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Lieutenant Wittmeir for an ASWO visit on 8 to 9 May 85;
- Master Warrant Officer Barnes for a Comm Det visit on the 15 to 16 May 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 2, 9, 16, and 23 May 85;
- Fire Fighter Training Phase II 29 to 31 May 85;
- Weapons training from 22 to 29 May 85;
- First Aid training from 28 to 30 May 85; and
- BDF training on 23 May 85.
4. The married quarters were hardwired for smoke detectors.
F - June:

: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- VIGILANT OVERVIEW 85-2 (Simulated Exercise) from 10 to 14 Jun 85; and
- AMALGAM CHIEF 85-3 (Live Exercise) on 16 Jun 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Master Warrant Officer Miller for a Comm Sec Inspection on 10 to 11 Jun 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 6, 13, 20 and 27 Jun 85;
- Weapons training (Pistol) 7, 19 and 26 Jun 85; and
- Weapons training (FNC1) 12 Jun 85.

- GYPEX (Bomb Threat) 5 Jul 85.
H - September:

: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- MAPLE FLAG from 17 TO 26 Sep 85.

- Safety Management course (8 personnel qualified) from 4 to 6 Sep 85.
3. CFS Gypsumville won the "A" side in the Prairie Region Small Base Fastball Championships.
J - October:

: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- GYPEX 85-1 (Station Exercise) 3 and 4 Oct 85;
- FABRIC INDIAN (Simulated Exercise) from 21 to 22 Oct 85; and
- Ground Search Party Exercise from 23 to 24 Oct 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Colonel McKee for a DNS visit from 30 to 31 Oct 85;
- Lieutenant Colonel Cockerill for a SSO region Medical visit from 30 to 31 Oct 85; and
- Major Ludorf for a SO Nurse visit from 30 to 31 Oct 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Weapons training (FNC1 and Pistol) on 1 Oct 85;
- Fire Fighter training 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 Oct 85;
- First Aid training on 29 and 31 Oct 85; and
- Fire Warden course qualifying six personnel.
K - November:
- Exercises
: This Station participated in the following Exercises:
- 25/CW BRAVE 86-1 (Live Exercise) from 5 to 6 Nov 85; and
- VIGILANT OVERVIEW 86-1 (Simulated Exercise) from 13 to 21 Nov 85.
2. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Lieutenant Colonel Senft, Major Mercier, Chief Warrant Officer Marshall and Master Warrant Officer Barnes for a Comm Det visit on 18 Nov 85.
3. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 7, 14, 21and 28 Nov 85;
- Safe Backing course on 13 and 15 Nov 85;
- Security Education briefing on 19 Nov 85;
- Drug and Alcohol briefing on 26 and 28 Nov 85; and
- Defensive Driving Course on 27 and 28 Nov 85.
M - December:
1. Visits: The following personnel visited this Station on the dates indicated:
- Colonel Riis Director of Operations North Bay on 5 and 6 Dec 85.
2. Courses/Training: The following courses and training were conducted on this Station as dates indicate:
- Fire Fighter training 5 and 12 Dec 85;
- Several significant events passed within the last year on this Station. Most noteworthy were:
- The station was notified that it would be closing in Aug 87; and
- C&E Tech visit in Dec rated this Station as outstanding and one of the best in the Radar chain.
- These milestones and the other general events listed chronologically, contributed to the overall operational capabilities and effectiveness of this Station. Overall, CFS Gypsumville enjoyed a successful year in 1985.
