Maintain radar surveillance, assign appropriate track numbers and report surveillance information to Spokane Air Defense Sector Direction Center (SPADS DC) for identification and action. Exercise control of allocated interceptors. Report results of tactical action. Lateral tell to adjacent stations and provide all possible navigational assistance to aircraft in distress.

AN/FPS-20, AN/FPS-6, AN/FPS-6B
Organization and Planning:
There has been no change in squadron mission and no significant change in the Commanders evaluation of the organization during the period of this report; however, it is anticipated that the in progress conversion of the AN/FPS-3A to an AN/FPS-20 will greatly improve this stations ability to perform its assigned mission. Conversion of the search radar was started on 9 March, and it is anticipated that acceptance will occur prior to 1 April 1962.
The GATR facility equipment installation was accepted on 22 March 1962; however, the temporary diesel unit in GATR failed while being used in conjunction with the equipment installation and investigation as to responsibility for repair is still in progress.
The SAGE annex building was accepted on 18 February 1962. The FST-2 equipments arrived on 12 March and installation commenced on 16 March 1962.
Surveillance and Detection Network:
The previously reported equipment limitations should be alleviated on completion of the AN/FPS-20 conversion.
Red time did not significantly influence accomplishment of mission during the period.
Combat Operations:
A total of 267 training intercepts were conducted during the period with 106 of the total having been conducted by RCAF personnel. All USAF controller personnel departed the station with current intercept evaluations.
Miscellaneous:
Phase over of the station to the Royal Canadian Air Force is complete according to the Group III Site Phasing Plan. The official handover ceremony took place at 10:30 hours on 21 March 1962 with an effective change over date of 1 April 1962. Colonel GG Atkinson, Commander, Spokane Air Defense Sector, represented the United States Air Force and Group Captain DLS MacWilliam officially accepted the installation on behalf of the Royal Canadian Air Force. A copy of the Handing-Over Certificate is attached. As of 00:01 hours, 1 April 1962, Major William S. Meyer officially relinquished command of this station to Squadron Leader Douglas E Biden, RCAF. A copy of the discontinuance order is attached.
