ANNUAL HISTORICAL REPORT

Ref: 1325-1 (SAdmO dated 16 Feb 84

  1. Reference indicates report is to cover 12 month period ending 31 Dec 83, unfortunately the only information I have available to me concerns those items which have occurred since my arrival on 20 Jul 83.
  2. The following occasions are those which directly involved the SWO in their preparation/implementation.

26 Aug 83

A Station Parade was held in the Recreation Centre with 60 station personnel participating.

9 Nov 83

A Station Parade was held in the Recreation Centre to honor the visit of MGen Paisley (Commander Fighter Group) to CFS Lowther. Sixty station military personnel participated and in addition, the Corps of Commissionaires participated (six personnel). The addition of the Commissionaires to the parade allowed CFS Lowther to present 10 year medals to two of our Commissionaires in an atmosphere which showed our respect and appreciation of the Corps.

11 Nov 83

CFS Lowther participated in the annual Remembrance Day Parade and ceremonies held In Kapuskasing by supplying a flight of 32 personnel for the parade. The Commanding Officer laid a wreath during the Cenotaph Ceremonies. In addition to this normal participation in the Remembrance Day Ceremonies, Sgt. Laliberte of CFS Lowther represented the Canadian Forces in a ceremony conducted at Kapuskasing District High School.

30 Nov - 3 Dec 83

CWO PE Delaney, Air Command CCWO, visited CFS Lowther during this period. CWO Delaney attended a luncheon with the WO’s & Sgts. And an open style meet and greet with the Jr. Ranks during his visit. CWO Delaney visited all work areas on the station and was made available for personal interviews with any Other Rank personnel who desired one. CWO Delaney was complimentary with regard to dress, deportment, supervision, etc., at the completion of his visit.

16 Dec 83

The Annual Christmas Luncheon for station personnel was extremely well attended and much appreciated by all concerned. The inclusion of civilian personnel in this annual event allows an opportunity for the military community to join with the civilian staff on the unit in an atmosphere of good-will and harmony.

  1. Hope the above information will prove to be of some value in the preparation of the Annual Historical Report.
