June 55
The station was visited by A/VM LE Wray, OBE AFC CD, AOD Air Defence Command and A/V/M AL James, CBE CD (ret) and their wives on the occasion of the official opening of the dependents school. In a quiet ceremony A/V/M James cut the inaugural ribbon formally opening the school which had been named in his honour.
6 – 13 July 55
A party consisting of the CEO (F/O JV Guntensperger) and 11 airmen (firefighters and trained volunteers) proceeded to Clarke City and Shelter Bay – two North Shore communities a few miles west of the station – to assist in fighting serious forest fires which were threatening the lives of these communities. A great deal of time and effort was put in by this party and they were highly congratulated by the appreciative officials in the threatened area. The operation as a whole was successful in that the town of Shelter Bay was saved from damage.
Late June to late August 55
Commencement of paving of the roads and sidewalks in the domestic site followed by paving in the station area (including operations site).
Late August 55
Improvement and beautifying of the station continued as the domestic site was planted with grass and plans were laid for seeding of the remainder of the station in the spring of 1956.
19 August 55
Construction commenced on a Special Type (Type A, Class 2) Recreation and Drill Hall, a very welcome and most necessary addition to an isolated station such as this one. The building is expected to be completed in May 1956.
27 September 55
The station was visited by A/V/M JG Kerr, CBE AFC CD, AMP and G/C DA Willis, DFC CD, SPSO ADC on a familiarization field visit during which they were acquainted with personnel problems peculiar to Station Moisie.
November 55
A number of officers Air Services/Fighter Controller were transferred from Station Moisie in a move to strengthen the inner ring and preparatory to Exercise Crackerjack. As a result 211 AC&W Squadron returned to a strictly Early Warning function through maintaining GCI capabilities on emergency or request.
