Wednesday Very cold during the early morning. Sunny but clouded over by lunch and we had snow flurries all afternoon. Bulldozer working on ground adjacent to NCOs quarters in preparation for Helicopter from Bagotville.

Thursday Cool with low clouds around all day and occasional light snow showers. Helicopter, piloted by F/O Nicholson from Bagotville after some difficulty made into the base following the road over from the Talbot Highway. F/L Raymond, RC Padre was a passenger.

Saturday Beautiful sunny day Many of the station personnel out skiing. Helicopter in from Bagotville during the afternoon with F/L Thompson (P) Padre from ADCHQ F/O Nicholson, captain of the helicopter gave rides to station personnel in the helicopter for about 30 minutes. CO returned from ADCHQ.

Monday Mess Meeting. S/L Whiteford and P/O Hines visited Accounts. P/O Tarantello arrived (Assistant Adjutant). Very clear and cold. S/L Heaslip arrived in helicopter, took Protestant Padre back to Bagotville. Mrs. Alain had a son. RC School concert. Controllers briefing before W/C McNairs visit.

Thursday Heavy snowfall road blocked until mid-morning Wednesday. Liberty run did not get back until 1030 hours. W/C McNair and S/L Rogers left today. Station Trade Board completed Promotion Board convened. W/C Marcou, S/L St. Louis and F/L Legare. Started decorating Mess this evening for Christmas.

Friday Beautiful day cold and clear FS Desjardins returned from Montreal hospital. Promotion Board continued in afternoon COs inspection, F/O Geneau accompanied CO Central Warehouse party and Tower party today.

Saturday Milder snow and rain fall Reserves in for weekend from Aux. Squadron Quebec City for training. F/O Johnson reported in. Bowling party at Rec. Hall very successful.

Thursday Blustery day. Quite cold. Station quieting down with personnel going on Christmas leave. 22 passengers on Quebec City run. P/O Tarantello in the am, Mrs. Horsnell in the evening off for Christmas.

Friday FS Willert landed in Bagotville. HQ closed shop at 1500 hours. Midnight services lined up for both churches. FS Willert brought in by helicopter also Protestant Padre. Carol singers toured unit.

Saturday Clear day. Officers and NCOs served Christmas dinner to the Airmen very successful. Open house at the COs home in the evening for officers and their wives. NCOs held open house for ORs in evening.

Saturday Nice cool day. "Snow Bowl" game between Officers and NCOs was very good. NCOs won 10 0. A lot of excitement. Hoped for New Years baby (Gordon) but event didnt take place.

Wednesday Temperature dropped to 2 below during the early morning. Crisp cold day clear. A lot of the children making the best of their holiday on the ski hill. F/L MacLeod on TD to AA School at Picton, Ont.

Saturday Clear day, became overcast during the evening with a few snow showers. CO and members of Officers Mess Committee spent the afternoon building a toboggan run on the COs hill. A very successful toboggan party was held during the evening by members of the Officers Mess as a farewell party for F/O Keenan Med/Nurse (Chatham) and F/O Gustafson SAO (Hamilton). F/L Thompson (P) Padre, arrived from ADC. Snow blower used to clear about 2 feet of snow off the rink.

Sunday Protestant church service held only 12 people attending. Cold and clear. No barber this weekend because of lack of transport. F/O Kinaird, F/O Trembley, Reserve Controllers from 2452 Squadron reported in for 18 days TD.

Monday Cold and clear today. Mr. McEwan TCHQ Rec. Advisor and F/O Wheeler arrived by helicopter from Bagotville for survey of recreational facilities. CO and CAdO in conference all afternoon with ADC Rec. Survey team. Capt. Vielleux, Dental Officer, arrived from Bagotville for ten days. FS Desjardins, SWO, back from month in hospital and month sick leave.

Wednesday Clear cold day Pay day. Helicopter arrived from Bagotville with G/C Newson, CO Bagotville and S/L Carson, OC of 440 Squadron, Bagotville. Mr. Louthhood of Winter Roads Association, Mr. Gaunce of Price Brothers arrived by car luncheon in the Mess. COpsO, F/L Legare, took G/C Newson and S/L Carson to the Tower. CO, CTechO, CEO in conference with Mr. Louthhood and Mr. Gaunce concerning the road to the north. Helicopter took G/C Newson and S/L Carson, F/O Wheeler and Mr. McEwan back to Bagotville. F/O Gustafson left on TD to Hamilton. Basketball team went over to Kenogami for a game.

Wednesday Clear say, fairly mild. F/L Southwood (Med Officer) Parent came in by helicopter. He will replace F/L Bending, who is going on TD for a course at Camp Borden.

Thursday Clear day, became overcast briefly during the afternoon. F/L Qualifying exams continued. Station being cleaned up for visit of AFHQ Staff Officers. Farewell party held in Sgts. Mess for Sgt. Rivest F of W who is returning to North Bay, and Mr. Hargrave.

Friday A/C Greenway, G/C McKinnon, G/C Sharp, W/C Gordon (ADC) and F/L Francis arrived by helicopter from Bagotville. These officers are Staff Officers from AFHQ Personnel Branch. Program for the day, short tour of townsite, conference, luncheon, conference continued, tour of tower site. Helicopter was landed at the tower to pick the visitors up and return them to Bagotville. A small fire destroyed the drapes in the AW Lounge in their barrack block approximately 1900 hours.

Saturday Clear and cool. Dining-In Night held in Officers Mess, to say farewell to F/O MacLeod and F/O Taylor. F/O MacLeod is transferred to 5 ADCC Vancouver, and F/O Taylor back to flying starting with a refresher course at Centralia. F/L Hill and 7 officers paid a visit from 2452 Squadron, Quebec City for the weekend. F/L Bending, SMO, left on TD to Camp Borden. Basketball team played a home game with Kenogami.

Sunday Light snow showers began during the early morning. Mild. Bagotville hockey team played a game against our station team on the outdoor rink. First game of the season.

Monday Cold and clear. Staff College exams presided over by W/C Marcou, CO, written by S/L St. Louis and F/L Southwood. Small bus coming down from the tower at 0845 glanced off FWD snow plow and caused $2,000.00 damage to Guardhouse on the Tower Road.

Tuesday Cold and clear. COs Conference held during am. F/L Legare and F/O Della Stua left on TD to 1 ADCC Lac St. Denis. A conference was held during the afternoon to discuss the Black Fly situation during the coming summer and the steps to be taken to combat same. Became very mild during the afternoon with some melting.

Wednesday Cold and clear. Approximately 20 below during the night. G/C Gwinn, S/L Richards, F/O Woodruff, all Staff Tel Com from ADC and F/O Gordon ADC Welfare Officer came in for a visit via helicopter from Bagotville. A gathering of station officers entertained the guests during the evening.

Saturday Nice day today. F/O Campbell, former Adjutant, and F/O Keenan, Nursing Sister, visited us today from Chatham, NB and plan to leave 22 May. Girl Guide Rally at Mont Apica Guides and Leaders from surrounding area in for the day and were well pleased. Very good programme arranged. Miss Sadie Mansour in charge of gathering, and Mrs. Willert in charge of Brownies. Mud Bowl game held today between Officers and Senior NCOs. Officers won 15 1. Helicopter in from Bagotville and was used to land men and equipment to spray various lakes and streams in the area for black fly control. F/O Crowther in charge of this operation. Station dance held in Rec. Hall, which went off very well.

F/O JA Brown arrived from London as under training controller. Former WO2 in charge of FtrCop school in Clinton, F/O Brown should be of great value to the unit and the Controller Branch.

From that point till 0930 heavy activity against Boiler Maker aircraft. 440 Squadron did an excellent job and co-operated in every way to make the exercise a success. Several aircraft were handed over to Scooter to intercept raids to the west. Well co-ordinated effort.

All Boiler Maker aircraft successfully intercepted. All concerned did a good job. A/V/M Wray visiting station today for casual inspection. Boiler Maker continuing on 30th.

This month has proved to be the busiest on record for this unit. A total of 348 intercepts were attempted with 288 being successfully completed. F/O Crowther led the controllers with 84 intercepts for the month.
