Saturday – Personnel from RCAF Station Parent arrived this morning for Sports Day. Events began in early afternoon with Mont Apica sweeping the field in bowling and badminton. Telecom Dance, Saturday evening a great success.

Sunday – Sports meet continues with Parent winning in volleyball. RC Church services today. LAC Flaro’s and Cpl. Danberger’s babies were baptized in RC Chapel today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – F/L and Mrs. Gamache became parents of a baby girl in the station hospital. Capt. LC Griswold, Capt. LG Charbonneau, Mr. JL Mantrick arrived on the station today. Women’s Auxiliary annual Christmas Party in the evening.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference postponed until Wednesday. Extremely good movie shown at Station Theatre was well attended.

Wednesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. Promotion Board held in the afternoon. Capt. Griswold, Capt. Charbonneau and Mr. Mantrick left the unit today.

Thursday – Extremely mild with rain off an on all day. Roads very slippery. Movie "East of Eden" completely sold out both shows. Great improvement in type of movies.

Friday – Cold and snowy all day. CO left today for Toronto. S/L Yarnell is acting CO.

Saturday – Bowling teams Men’s and Women’s to Bagotville for inter-Station tournament. Girl’s team won by a fair margin. Men’s team not so fortunate. F/L Thompson arrived on the unit today.

Sunday – Services in both RC and Protestant churches this Sunday. Clean and cold all day with snow at night.

Monday – Snow most of the day. Unit quiet.

Tuesday – No CO’s Conference this morning. Cold wind blowing all day.

Wednesday – F/O Tracey, Welfare Officer, arrived from Command. Bingo Jackpot still not won and attracting large crowds.

Thursday – Cold and snowy all day. Station quiet. Pay Parade in the morning.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Ski tow busy and many toboggans out on CO’s hill. Women’s Auxiliary Christmas Carollers on the radio tonight. Reception celebrating the wedding of LAW Harnish and LAC Janisse held at Party Room.

Saturday – Liberty Run crowded with Christmas shoppers going to Quebec City.

Sunday – RC Church services and Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – Dull snowy day. Comm Section started off the Christmas parties. Snow very heavy at night with high winds.

Tuesday – Snow and high winds. CO’s Conference in the morning.

Wednesday – Active day on the station. Much work being finished off before Christmas leaves. Turkey Bingo early in the evening with Jackpot finally won by Mrs. Irma MacLean. Admin Section Christmas party a huge success.

Thursday – Bright winter day. Protestant and RC School closing very well presented in the evening.

Friday – Christmas Carollers of the WA on radio for last time this season. Many left the station on a special Liberty Run in the afternoon. F/L Thompson, Protestant Padre arrived.

Saturday – No Liberty Run today. Children’s Christmas Party in the Rec. Hall with Santa pleasing everyone.

Sunday – RC and Protestant Church services in morning. Protestant Carol service during the early evening with children of the Sunday School presenting pageant of "We Three Kings".

Monday – Station quiet. RC Midnight Mass observed.

Tuesday – Christmas Day with usual festivities in the Messes. Cold and snowy.

Wednesday – Bright clear day. The station back to normal after a busy Christmas whirl. Two promotions on unit – W/C CS Yarnell and S/L LL Mock.

Thursday – Extremely cold day. Orderly Room busy with everyone getting back off Christmas Leave.

Friday – Liberty Run at one o’clock to take personnel away on New Year’s Leave.

Saturday – Clear cold day. Station quiet.

Sunday – Cold still continues. RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School held in afternoon.

Monday – Cold, quiet day. New Year’s Ball in the evening with everyone out to welcome the New Year. CBC television people in for coverage of Annual Snow Bowl Game. F/O Estwick arrived in today.

Tuesday – Snow Bowl Game and Parade in the morning. Officers again the victors. Much activity afterwards in all messes. Twenty below weather keeping most activities indoors.

Wednesday – Extreme cold continues. The station is quiet after the festivities.

Thursday – Still cold. W/C Snider getting everything cleared away before going on annual leave. W/C Yarnell will be acting CO.

Friday – Much milder today with snow. W/C Yarnell did CO’s Inspection this morning.

Saturday – Extremely cold day. Station quiet.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Curling teams away to River Bend for practice.

Monday – Dark day. CAdO away today battling a bad cold. School resumed today after Christmas holidays.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. W/C Yarnell Acting CO. Dark cold day.

Wednesday – Nasty snowy day. Bingo resumed tonight in the Rec. Hall. W/C Yarnell and F/O Wright left for Bagotville for cross-training, returning tomorrow.

Thursday – Extremely cold day. Trouble with water mains caused flood in Rec. Hall parking lot. Water off in PMQs until late in the evening.

Friday – Clear and extremely cold day. W/C Yarnell on inspection of the station today.

Saturday – Extremely cold day. However, many made use of ski tow and toboggan hill. F/L Thompson arrived today.

Sunday – Services in both RC and Protestant churches today. The Jane’s baby and Berry baby were Christened in the Protestant Chapel this morning. The Curling teams were away at River Bend for the day. Extremely cold going to 40 degrees below during the night.

Monday – F/L Thompson left this afternoon. Extreme cold continues.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. Many frozen ears and fingers. Vehicles having trouble because of extreme cold.

Wednesday – Finally a break in the cold weather. Acting CO, W/C Yarnell, F/L Freebairn, F/O Brown, F/O Healey-Ogden left for Station Chatham for high level indoctrination course. Bingo in the Rec. Hall.

Thursday – Clear day, fairly cold. F/O Wright, F/L Gamache, F/O Scott and F/O Bullock left today for Station Chatham for high level indoctrination course, but were called back because of cancellation of TD by Station Chatham. F/L Garcon arrived today from Lac St. Denis.

Friday – Bright winter day, much warmer. S/L Mock carried out CO’s Inspection in the morning.

Saturday – Dark day, quite cold. Poor attendance at the dance in the Rec. Hall.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. There is a shortage of Sunday School teachers. Snow started early in the day.

Monday – Heavy wet snow all day making roads very difficult. First of F/O’s Qualifying Exams were written this morning. Capt. Dufresne, dentist, reported in today.

Tuesday – Extremely mild with rain all day. CO’s Conference in the morning. All vehicles stopped at Talbot. Runs on station limited to bare necessity. Tower trips "hair-raising". Mail run held up for night.

Wednesday – Complete turn-about of weather. Extremely cold, seemingly more so after a mild day. Station quiet – Bingo in the Rec. Hall in the evening.

Thursday – Cold bright day. W/C Snider back to work after annual leave.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. F/L Thompson arrived on the unit tonight for the weekend. Officers Mess Dinner this evening with S/L Taschereau and F/L Goulet and F/L Tousegnaut as guests. Clear, cold day.

Saturday – Canadair Variety Show on the unit today, giving two performances – one in the afternoon for the children, and one in the evening. Cold continues.

Sunday – Services in both Protestant and RC Churches today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Dull day, very cold in the evening.

Monday – Dull, cold day. LAC and Mrs. Desroches became proud parents of a baby girl in the Station Hospital.

Tuesday – Raw cold day. CO’s Conference in the morning. F/O Crewe and two airmen from Bagotville were on the unit today checking armament etc.

Wednesday – Bright winter day. Station fairly quiet. Much activity on the ski hill.

Thursday – Bright, cold day. CO called away by death of Mrs. Snider’s mother.

Friday – Dull cold day. Preparations being made for Sports Day on Saturday. Curling Club left today for Bonspiel in River Bend.

Saturday – Sports Day – Inter Mess. Sergeants the winners. Dance in evening not too well attended.

Sunday – Much milder with snow all day. RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – Still mild and snowing steadily. Unit quiet.

Tuesday – No CO’s Conference this morning as CO just returned from Mrs. Snider’s mother’s funeral.

Wednesday – Snowy day. Bingo in the Rec. Hall in the evening. Rec. Hall closed after Bingo to begin cleaning and painting floors. F/O Sauve here for day from Lac St. Denis.

Thursday – Bright winter day. F/O Tracey here from Command for the day.

Friday – F/L Thompson arrived on the unit today. CO’s inspection in the morning. Much activity on Ski Hill and toboggan run.

Saturday – Lovely mild winter day. Many on Liberty Run. No dance in the Rec. Hall so parties in most messes.

Sunday – Services in both Protestant and RC Churches. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – Bright snowy day. Ski hill and toboggan slide very popular.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. Extremely cold during the night.

Wednesday – Dull day, threatening snow. Many leaving on transfer during the day. Word received late in the day that W/C Snider was involved in an automobile accident and in Bagotville Hospital. Injuries not serious.

Thursday – Children’s Valentine Party in both schools. Warm winter day.

Friday – CO’s Parade in the morning in the Rec. Hall. S/L Mock Acting CO.

Saturday – Lovely snowy day. Ski tow busy all day. Valentine Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening. The Rec. Hall was very beautifully decorated and the dance extremely well attended. LAC and Mrs. Sherrard welcomed a baby boy at the station hospital.

Sunday – Snowing steadily all day and extremely mild. RC Church services and Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – Steady all day snow. CO back on the station in the station hospital and much better after his accident.

Tuesday – W/C Yarnell back off leave today. No CO’s Conference this morning. Snowing steadily all day long. Helicopter landed but couldn’t leave again because of weather conditions.

Wednesday – Snow still coming down steadily. Bingo in the Rec. Hall in the evening. Helicopter still unable to take off because of weather.

Thursday – Still snowing but now so heavily. Roads choked with snow and quite bad. CAdO and SAO away to St. Joseph d’Alma until late afternoon.

Friday – Still snowing. Officers Dining-In Night tonight. Curling Club away to Kenogami to Bonspiel.

Saturday – Still snowing but not steady. Many to town for the day taking advantage of freshly cleared roads.

Sunday – F/L Miller, Protestant Chaplain, from Bagotville, here for the weekend. RC Church services morning and afternoon. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Snow finally stopped.

Monday – Bright sunny day, and quite warm. Normal station routine.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference not held this morning. W/C Dupuis arriving for visit from St. Sylvestre staying overnight.

Wednesday – Another bright day. Much activity on part of Snow Queen Sponsors preparing for Winter Carnival.

Thursday – Fine winter day. First day of Winter Carnival. Cpl. Dot Coles was elected Snow Queen with Joan Sanderson and Liz Parent as Princesses. Bean supper and square dance in evening well attended.

Friday – Snow again late in the day. Monte Carlo Night of Winter Carnival very successful.

Saturday – Final Day of Winter Carnival. The Sergeant’s Mess won the trophy for the sports events. Dance in the evening well attended. F/L Pus away for a week.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Snow off and on all day.

Monday – Bright winter day. CO in most of the day, getting around much better after his accident.

Tuesday – No CO’s Conference this morning. W/C Yarnell convalescing from a sprained ankle suffered over the weekend.

Wednesday – S/L Dalton arrived on the station during the afternoon.

Thursday – S/L Dalton left on the Mail Run this morning. F/O Walker, PAdO, not well and admitted to Station Hospital in the afternoon.

Tuesday – Another bright winter day. No CO’s Conference this morning, CO being away.

Thursday – F/O Walker back off leave today. Very mild weather continues. Wire bowling tournament this evening.

Friday – Dull dark day very mild. Roads, ditches and children fairly wet. CO’s Inspection in the morning. F/L Thompson arrived this afternoon from Command.

Saturday – Weather quite nasty. Airmen and Cpls. played football game in morning. Airmen won a 7 – 0 victory. Many bruised and sore participants were limping around after the game.

Wednesday – CO and W/C Yarnell away to Quebec City today, also visiting Val Cartier. Cpl. and Mrs. Baker welcomed a new daughter in the Station Hospital. F/L Horsnell arrived on the station from ADCHQ for two days TD. F/O Standing reported on the station today. Current Affairs Lecture by Mr. Nain Kattan on the Suez and Far East in the Station Theatre for the Airmen and Airwomen, and for Officers and Senior NCO’s in the Officer’s Mess in the evening.

Friday – Dark raw day. F/L Pus back in the morning and W/C Snider and W/C Yarnell back in the afternoon. Heavy wind storm in the evening.

Saturday – Dull dark day. No Station Dance and not much activity in Messes.

Sunday – RC Church services and Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. First 35mm movies shown at Station Theatre tonight "Court Jester" with Danny Kaye attracted large crowds.

Saturday – Extremely snowy and cold. Bagotville Cpls. over for volleyball, rifle shoot and darts.

Sunday – Bright sunny day again. Protestant personnel disappointed that road conditions made it impossible for Protestant Padre to come from Bagotville for Easter morning services. RC Church services both morning and afternoon.

Monday – More bright spring weather melting snow very fast. Many returning to camp from Easter leave.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. Lovely spring weather continues.

Wednesday – Lovely warm day. PMQ people out in force, cleaning up lawns etc as snow disappears. LAW Stredwick won Bingo Jackpot tonight.

Thursday – Rain began early in the morning. Roads very bad.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. CO away to Bagotville in the afternoon. Bright spring day. Movie "The Day North America Was Attacked" was shown in the station theatre in the evening.

Saturday – Bright day, with many in PMQ area doing clean up of lawns, screens etc. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening with music provided by "The Great Pretenders" was much enjoyed by all who attended. Clocks went ahead one hour tonight.

Sunday – Protestant and RC services held on the station today. Bright spring day.

Monday – W/C Snider and W/C Yarnell left to attend CO’s Conference at Command. Dark day with rain most of the day.

Tuesday – Dull day quite cold with wind. Power off on the townsite for about an hour in the morning.

Wednesday – Snow all day! Bingo in Rec. Hall in the evening.

Thursday – Still cold and snowy. CAdO, F/L Pus left for Ottawa for Election briefing. F/L Raymond was on the station today.

Friday – Bright snowy day. Townsite quiet.

Saturday – Complete turn about in weather, bright warm and sunny. Station Dart Tournament finals held today with Corporals Club making a clean sweep. Dance in the evening not too well attended.

Sunday – Another bright day. The Archbishop of Quebec on the Station for Confirmation in the RC Chapel. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon.

Monday – F/C Gregory reported in for summer today. Dull day but very warm. CO back from CO’s Conference over the weekend and at work this morning. Women’s Auxiliary held end of the season party this evening.

Tuesday – Dull day with rain on and off. No CO’s Conference this morning. Bowling play-off finals this evening with ME team the winners. F/O Sauve reported on the unit today.

Wednesday – Bright wonderful weather. Softball meeting in the evening to decide on plans for the season.

Thursday – Dark rainy day with rain coming in torrents. CO away to Bagotville for the day.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Officers Mess farewell party for W/C Yarnell who leaves this weekend. F/L Thompson arrived from Command for the weekend.

Saturday – Wonderful spring day. Many of the station personnel out walking etc. enjoying the weather. Sock Shuffle in the Rec. Hall quite successful.

Monday – CO’s Conference this morning. Inspection of Airman’s and Airwomen’s kit carried out during the day and evening.

Tuesday – W/C Snider, S/L Mock and F/L Montrose away today to St. Hubert. F/L Beattie here from ADCHQ for the day. Logs coming down the river again gives water a most unpleasant smell as well as "spruce" smell.

Wednesday – F/L Beattie left today. F/L Brooks here for the day from ADCHQ.

Thursday – Townsite quiet with normal routine.

Friday – Bright day remaining cold. Many leaving station for long weekend.

Saturday – Liberty Run not too crowded today. Dance in Rec. Hall not too successful as many still tired after busy Operations week.

Sunday – RC Church Services and Protestant Sunday School today.

Monday – Bright warm day. First of black fly airsprays took place this evening.

Tuesday – Airspray continued today. No CO’s Conference because of many personnel involved in spraying action.

Wednesday – CO’s Conference held this morning. Rain began just when the woods were beginning to get dangerously dry.

Thursday – A/C Gilchrist and Dr. Linsday on the station today for a short visit. Dull day threatening rain.

Friday – Warm day. Airmen’s Mess Dinner opening newly decorated Station Institute.

Saturday – Bowling Dance this evening. Trophies presented to ME team. LAC Flaro, Mrs. Kelly and Sgt. Brunet. Cpl. and Mrs. Savage became proud parents of a son in the Station Hospital.

Sunday – Both RC and Protestant Church services held in the morning. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Cpl. and Mrs. Rouleau welcomed a baby girl in the Station Hospital.

Monday – Townsite quiet – usual Station routine.

Tuesday – No CO’s Conference this morning. A medical team from St. Joseph d’Alma visited the station to give Salk vaccine injections to dependent children on the unit.

Wednesday – F/L Fernie reported in this morning.

Thursday – Weather much brighter. Normal routine on the townsite.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Corporal’s Club held a Dining-In Night which was very successful.

Saturday – Two Quebec Auxiliary controllers arrived for weekend training.

Sunday – A Faker exercise scrambling Rhino 10 after Rhino 1 was successfully run at close of GMT today. F/O Ward arrived on two weeks TD from Moisie. F/O Scott proceeded to St. Hubert on TD.

Monday – Rhino 12 and 26 were diverted from PI’s and Rhino 4 and 9 scrambled on Hippo aircraft of Roadblock Overfly of B-47s. Rhino 12 and 26 broke off as they were too far away and unable to catch target and Rhino 4 and 9 completed VIPs. Scramble was made on Ascot 69 but no aircraft got airborne and all aborted on the ground. Exercise Jersey was cancelled. Two Captains and four other ranks of the USAF arrived from Limestone and one officer from 33^rd AD on a two day visit. F/O Temple returned from TD at Lac St. Denis. F/O Curran returned from leave and honeymoon.

Tuesday – PX’s and WX’s received from Whitefish aircraft and passed to ATC and Turmoil control. Largo advised that Sunstroke 19, CF-100, crashed south of St. Hubert. Rhubarb 6 and 7 were scrambled on Fricasie 6 ECM aircraft dropping chaff. Rhubarb 6 splashed successfully, but Rhubarb 7’s AI was unserviceable. Later, Rhubarb 6 was scrambled and intercepted an unknown which appeared at 2104 GMT and which was identified as a CF-100, early on flight plan from Mont Joli. F/O Sigouis arrived on two weeks special duty from 2452 Auxiliary, Quebec. F/O Todd and F/O Janes proceeded on two days cross-training at Bagotville.

Wednesday – Six aircraft were scrambled on Fricasie 6 for ECM exercise. Intercepts were run by Auxiliary Controllers with moderate success. Last aircraft, Rhino 25 was sent after Jersey B-47, but fighter had to abort because of failure of pressurization.

Thursday – An unknown appearing at 0537 GMT was scrambled on and intercepted by Rhino 22 who identified it as a KC-97. PXs and WXs passed from Jolly and Ascot aircraft who were probably rendez-vousing with KC-97. ECM condition 1 was experienced between 2000 and 2100 GMT. F/O Scott returned from TD at St. Hubert.

Friday – All flights of Jersey aircraft cancelled. Bagotville Squadron’s Christmas schedule announced. Four Quebec Auxiliary controllers arrived for weekend training.

Saturday – An alert was sounded in error and cancelled at 1630 GMT. A short in wiring system indicated to steam plant that alert should be rung. A cable repairman caused the alert while working. Two more Auxiliary controllers arrived for weekend from Quebec for training. F/L McLean left on TD to Biloxi, Mississippi, for 10 days.

Sunday – S/L Yarnell and F/O Wright proceeded on two days TD to Bagotville.

Monday – Recovery Pipe 4’s handled by Scabbard for Gigolo aircraft proceeding to Bagotville for exercise Chance Light V. Scabbard had two pairs of fighters, Rhino Alpha and Bravo. Rhino 2 aborted as pilot could not raise undercarriage, and Rhino Alpha lead was unable to carry out any tactical action because of VHF difficulty. Rhino Bravo carried out intercepts with moderate success. At beginning of evening shift, during changeover, and at close of above exercise, an emergency squawk was received from Rhino 13 who was received by us on 121.5 but who could not receive our transmissions. Rhubarb 8, who was on tower frequency, was recalled and vectored in to guide Rhino 13 to base. Rhubarb 8 retained contact with Rhino 13 for about 10 minutes and both aircraft were heading back to base when contact was lost 42 miles south of Bagotville and Rhubarb 8 reported that Rhino 13 was descending rapidly. Rhubarb 8 continued to orbit and reported that Rhino 13 went into a dive and could not be followed so contact was lost. Scabbard alerted all GCIs for last plot to establish a fix. AFP contacted north and south gates of Laurentide Park to pass any available information. All GObC units in area and Shawnigan Power Company, who alerted all Towers in the park to pass any available information. At the close of the Greenwich day, search aircraft were airborne under Scabbard control.

Tuesday – Search continued for crashed CF-100 with Rhino 13 crew. Search aircraft activity continued with Bagotville Expeditors, Rhino 27 and 24, Rhubarb 6, 7, 15 and 17 and Blacksheep 20, also C-47s from St. Hubert. Main gate of the park passed information that crash is located 10 miles north of St. Urbain on Highway 56 at Lac Cygnes at 4741N – 7038W, at 0218 GMT. At 0312 GMT Blacksheep 20 reported seeing lights from the ground at 128 degrees 40 miles – or 4732N – 7038W. At 0401 GMT Rhubarb 7 spotted a green flare to miles from Scabbard at 128 degrees. At 0413 GMT VC916 observed a car proceeding toward the spot where the flare was seen on a small lake. A long distance call was placed to Park Gate at St. Urbain who reported that one man in a snowmobile had gone out to search where the flare was seen. At 0553 GMT VC916 reported seeing two red flares about two minutes and ½ mile apart in the same area. Position checked with a lake, Lac Martes – 4750N – 7040W. At 0615 GMT VC916 reported a fire on the ground, and used Aldis lamp with nil results. At 0702 GMT VC916 reported that the vehicle was heading toward the fire. VC916 then tried to signal the vehicle with the Aldis lamp with no joy, and fired a green flare in attempt to attract the vehicle’s attention with no joy. At 0720 GMT VC916 spotted a red flare 1 ½ miles NW of fire. At 0731 GMT VC916 reported that the fire was out but the last flare was still burning NW of the fire. At 0735 GMT VC916 lost visual contact with the vehicle. At 0924 GMT VC692 took over search from VC916. Nothing was reported from VC692 until 1055 GMT when pilot reported visual contact with seven vehicles, seven miles north of the lake. All information on Rhino 13 crash relayed by Scabbard to Largo, Trenton Search and Rescue and Bagotville Operations. No further information had been obtained to end of GMT day. Powerhouse Croney B-47s training exercise passed through our sub-sector with no tactical action.

Wednesday – Search for crew of Rhino 13 continued. VC692 picked up a red flare on the lake with a man waving at the aircraft at 1220 GMT. VC414 dropped supplies at 1240 GMT. VC916 and AF697 (an Otter) landed at Baie St. Paul at 1510 GMT and Scabbard was requested to dispatch a search party and one officer and seven airmen were detailed. A truck was sent from Bagotville to pick up snowmobile for the search team. At 1757 GMT AF697 called in to advise that F/O Reid, pilot of Rhino 13 crew, had been found and was aboard, and AF697 was landing at Lac des Martes to look for navigator. At 1830 GMT AF697 reported finding F/O Paskarak, Rhino 13 navigator, who was aboard. Both Rhino 13 crew were unhurt. At 1825 GMT, Scabbard’s search party was recalled by message to Park Gate, and at 1900 GMT GObC was advised of search end. Rhubarb 16 was airborne over search area to contact Trenton S&R team. At 1157 GMT Rhubarb 9 was scrambled on an unknown in Scabbard’s area. It was later identified as Ascot 82, a B-47 weather ship, off course, but scramble was not cancelled in case aircraft was in trouble. Rhubarb 9 completed a successful run. Jersey B-47 overfly cancelled. Jumbo overfly passed through sub-sector with no tactical action.

Thursday – Rhubarb 14 and 16 were scrambled on B-47 Croney overfly, and Rhubarb 16 splashed 1 B-47 which broke off from formation. Rhubarb 14 accomplished four missions. Exercise Caveman was cancelled. ECM condition 1 was experienced at 1430 GMT for five minutes from Blacksheep aircraft working with Crystal.

Friday – Nimrod, Handcuff, Ignite and Jumbo overflies passed through sub-sector but no tactical action was taken as no aircraft were available from Bagotville. One KC-97 of Handcuff mission was made unknown but identification was confirmed and scramble cancelled. The target aircraft for Caveman exercise took off as Rhino Red and Yellow sections under Scabbard surveillance. Some confusion as to number of fighters airborne was the result of Largo’s orders off and Bagotville’s ignorance of aircraft being ordered off. Targets were two flights of three aircraft each and were handed over to Scooter. VC665 was given surveillance to St. Hubert from Bagotville, and pilot reported that CF-100 wreckage of Rhino 13 aircraft had still not been located, and search would be called off if it was not found by tonight. Two Trenton aircraft remain at Bagotville. Three Auxiliary controllers arrived for weekend training from Quebec. F/O Tetley who returned from hospital on 22 Nov, resumed work.

Saturday – Some confusion resulted when Handcuff KC-97s appeared and were carried as unknowns, due to flight plan discrepancy. Rhubarb 14 was scrambled and obtained a Judy but had to be handed over to Scooter to complete intercept, after which aircraft was identified friendly. Other KC-97s scrambled on were earlier wave of Handcuff mission and though Rhino 10 aborted on the ground, Rhino 8 obtained a successful splash after a re-attack had been made. A harlequin section of three aircraft was diverted after becoming airborne for PI’s, to intercept Nimrod KC-97s. However, two fighters aborted and the third, Rhino 27 was not combat ready and completed VIPs. Two more Auxiliary controllers arrived for weekend training.

Monday – Two unknowns appeared at 1048 GMT and 1136 GMT. The scramble on the first was cancelled following identification by late flight plan, and Snowshoe took action on the second. A Faker exercise scrambling Rhino 23 on Rhino 1 was unsuccessful, in that Rhino passed ahead following Judy. No tactical action on Largo’s orders taken on "Tall Timber" B-47 overfly passing through today. F/L McLean returned from TD to Biloxi, Mississippi, and F/O Ward arrived on TD from Moisie.

Tuesday – Rhino’s 3, 24 and 19 on harlequin exercise with Snowshoe, having been handed back to Scabbard, were diverted to Presque Isle at 0530Z. Handover to Presque (Eagle Beak) was completed at 0538Z. Largo reported at 0625Z these aircraft landed at Presque Isle. Diversion was due to weather. At 0610Z Yardbird 70, 1 B-47, was handed over to us from Scooter, heading east with fuel trouble. A KC-97 to take off from Goose Bay to refuel Yardbird 70 at 5304N 6200W on heading 075 degrees True. Yardbird 70 was handed over to Crowbar at 0625Z. At 1753Z Rhino Red section (2 aircraft) was taken on handover from Eaglebeak, returning to Bagotville, and landed at 1818Z and 1826Z. At 2125Z and 2222Z Scabbard experienced ECM strength 1 at 197 degrees and 174 degrees respectively. At 0200Z a Chancelight VI synthetic exercise was run. At 0348Z Largo requested exercise to cease.

Wednesday – New ETD this date for Exercise Chancelight moved up 4 hours. Largo advised Blacksheep 33 was to be carried Keystone W for height checks from Scabbard. Height checks were done from 1830Z until 1918Z. Synthetic exercise Chancelight VI was run from 0200Z until 0345Z.

Thursday – At 1430Z Chancelight VI commenced with take off of Faker aircraft of which there were 9 instead of 12, having had 3 aborts. Six aircraft were scrambled at 1449Z for Snowshoe. At 1505Z Red Lead aborted in air and returned to base. Of the six fighters – Rhubarb Tango section had ground aborts and Rhino Uniform Lead air aborted leaving 3 fighters. These fighters were handed to Scabbard after their exercise runs at 1605Z and went to GCA at 1623Z. At 2230Z Largo advised mandatory scrambles from Bagotville only.

Friday – At 1410Z Largo advised mandatory scrambles from St. Hubert only.

Saturday – F/O Sequin reported for special duty from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron. One B-47 – Spiral 70 (Yardbird) was in Scabbard UHF range at 1802Z and radar contact at 1806Z. No tactical action taken. Scabbard was on emergency maintenance from 0001Z – 0015Z. VC beam required new oscillator tube.

Monday – Scabbard on emergency maintenance from 1052Z to 1111Z. Because of continuous sporadic strobing on EW Kit. Bagotville back to normal scrambles at 1315Z. One Auxiliary controller on duty.

Tuesday – At 1208Z an unknown – VL6L strength 1, speed 240, angels 8 was picked up in CD 1515 heading south at 1213Z. UL6L was identified friendly by Largo on Flight Plan #3 – our latest revision had aircraft at 4530N, 7220W at 1149Z. Revision should have read 4930N.

Wednesday – An unknown in Crowbar’s area at 0635Z – HF 3030 heading WSW, strength 1, speed 250K – Angels 18 resulted in one Bagotville fighter put to 5 minutes. Unknown designator WG5G. A possibility was Largo Flight Plan 11 – a BOAC 377 from Keflavik to Montreal. At 0700Z Mohawk identified friendly WG5G. Bagotville fighter was returned to 15 minutes. At 0238Z ECM condition 1 was experienced at 120 degrees true from a practice ECM aircraft with Eaglebeak. Ozzie 56 – 1 B-47 passed 230 miles north of Scabbard at 0415Z.

Thursday – VL3L, unknown, a Faker passed to Largo, as unknown, for Crystal’s benefit, and their scramble. At 1629Z Rhubarb 16 and 24 were airborne for practice with Eagle Beak. Handed over to Eagle Beak at 1641Z. Gave flight following to Wine Glass aircraft (KC-97’s) from 2031Z – 2303Z. S/L Yarnell promoted to W/C – F/L Mock promoted to S/L.

Friday – Pancake aircraft – KC-97’s (Exercise Coldwave) passed through our area. No tactical action but surveillance given from 0930Z – 1255Z. At 0227Z, Rhino 11 was airborne as Faker for Rhino 28, to proceed to 5000N 7100W and turn south at 45M. Rhino 28 to be scrambled from 15 minutes at 0242Z. Rhino 28 was scrambled and airborne under out control at 0254Z. Mission a success.

Saturday – Scabbard was on emergency maintenance from 0552Z until 0617Z. No signal on CPS-6B. Gave surveillance to Walker 29 (KC-97) from 1117Z – 1203Z going to Goose Bay. At 1938, Rhino 1 was airborne as Faker – Rhino 27 was ordered to 5 minutes. At 1945Z Rhino 27 was scrambled and airborne at 1948Z. Rhino 27 intercepted and identified as Rhino 1 at 2001Z.

Sunday – At 1024Z Rhino 1 took off from St. Hubert on a cross country to Bagotville at 40,000 feet. At 1024Z Rhino 19 and 11 were placed on 5 minutes. At 1033Z Rhino 11 and 19 were scrambled after Rhino 1. At 1046Z and 1047Z Rhino 19 and 11 were airborne respectively and at 1000Z Rhino 19 had 1 MA on Rhino 1. At 1103Z Rhino 11 had 1 MA on Rhino 1. At 1650 Largo advised Mandatory scrambles from Bagotville only.

Monday – F/O Meredith gone on leave until 20 Jan 57.

Wednesday – VL10N was declared unknown at 2305Z. Previously identified as TCA 447 from Bagotville to Quebec but now heading east. At 2310Z VL10N was identified friendly – TCA 447 in orbit, in contact with Quebec tower.

Thursday – At 2157Z, Pedlar 85 passed through Scabbard’s area – PX’d at 4955N 6920W at 2155Z, 1 thousand on top IFR – estimated 4920N 6722W at 2205 – Loring. At 2322Z VL14N was made unknown and 1 Bagotville aircraft was placed on 5 minutes at 2323Z. At 2327Z VL14N was identified friendly – Clipper 65, Flight Plan 54. At 2328Z the aircraft on 5 minutes was taken off.

Friday – Largo advised at 0610Z that exercise "Red Rock" was delayed 24 hours to 050748Z.

Saturday – At 2219Z VL19L was made unknown in FD 1030. At 2220, VL19L was made friendly by Flight Plan 8 – a late Flight Plan from ATC.

Sunday – Bagotville aircraft placed on Mandatory Scramble only at 1535Z. F/O Todd posted to Cold Lake.

Monday – 0837Z Largo advised exercise "Red Robin" delayed 24 hours. This from USAF 64^th Air Division. At 1926 UL7 was made unknown in CD 2030. Largo advised no scramble as this was a height finding Faker. CV 170 crash landed at 0045Z at Bagotville successfully – thus runway 110-290 closed to all traffic. P/O Hansley posted – 10S London.

Tuesday – Bagotville runway 110-290 serviceable at 0600Z. At 0700Z Largo advised Exercise "Red Robin" delayed 2 hours. At 0725Z Largo advised no TAC action on "Red Robin". 1 OFU callsign changed to "Napkin". At 1905Z VL27L made unknown. One aircraft, 35,000 feet – 450K – heading SW. At 1907Z 1 aircraft was scrambled from Bagotville heading 230 degrees to 34,000 feet. At 1915Z VL27L was identified as 1 CF-100 – TT42 had UHF contact on a Round Robin – QB-BG-CH-QB. Had pressurization trouble. Scramble cancelled. At 2144Z Rhino Quebec was committed to VG 93 – 5 B-47’s. At 0003Z Rhino 4 was committed – same track. At 0005 Rhino 9 had one MA on YG93. At 0009Z, Rhino 25 was committed to YG93. At 0025Z Rhino 4 had 1 MI – too low. Rhino 25 had 1 MA.

Thursday – At 0655Z Largo placed 7 fighters on 15 minutes for Scabbard for Exercise "Red Robing". At 0812Z Scabbard placed all aircraft on 5 minutes. At 1817Z our fighters were scrambled. At 0855Z results were summarized as follows: Rhino 17 – 1 MA on WG 19, 1 MI on VH 19 due to evasive action; Rhino 15 had 1 MI on VH19 due to UHF failure; Rhino 28 had 1 MA on VL2L; Rhino 3 had 1 MI due to position error of target on GSM; Rhino 75 aborted after takeoff – AI – unserviceable; Rhino 13 had 1 MA on VH 19; Rhino 1 had an abort after take-off due to down nose wheel. At 1708Z Esquire (13) was delayed indefinitely.

Friday – At 1239Z Rhino 13 was scrambled after Exercise "Golden Arrow". At 1257Z Rhubarb 17 was also scrambled – aborted at 1312Z AI and compass unserviceable. At 1313Z, Rhino 8 was scrambled in place of Rhubarb 17. At 1328 Rhino 21 was scrambled. At 1340Z Rhino 8 advised returning to base as he was out of position for his target – NH43. At 1344Z Rhino 8 diverted after CC109. At 1350 Rhino 24 was scrambled in place of Rhino 21. All fighters made MA’s. F/O’s McGoldrick, Belley, F/L Frew, Goudreault, reported in from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron.

Saturday – At 1235Z our first aircraft was scrambled after Exercise "Golden Arrow" – 2^nd wave 10 other fighters were scrambled within the following 7 hours. The results were as follows: Out of 11 fighters including diversions and re-scrambles Scabbard made 18 MA’s – 6 MI’s – 2 due to AEF, 2 due to controller error, 1 due to evasive action, and 1 because of late scramble. F/O’s Tousigant and Abel reported in from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron.

Sunday – At 0930Z had one unknown – VL4L heading south – seed 130. At 0953Z made UHF contact with Pancake 22 who proved to be VL4L after strangling his parrot. Scramble was cancelled. At 1800Z, 3 aircraft were scrambled after W620 – a Canberra. Rhino 10 had a ground abort – Rhino 9 had 1 MA and Rhino 25 had 1 MA. Six Auxiliary Officers for 2452 Auxiliary Squadron returned to Quebec. 1 Officer on TD from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron.

Tuesday – At 1800Z a Chancelight exercise was begun and continued until 2007Z. Scabbard scrambled 20 aircraft of which 8 had ground aborts. There was 1 air abort. There were 6 MA’s, 5 MI’s – 3 due to AEF, 1 out of position.

Wednesday – Esquire aircraft mission – 1 B-47 – delayed 24 hours at 0136Z. VL5N was identified unknown at 1420Z. No scramble required, was identified friendly at 1434Z by late revision in Flight Plan 17. At 170230Z AC777 – Esquire was delayed 15 hours. W/C Yarnell, F/L Freebairn, F/O Healey-Ogden on TD to Chatham. Also F/O Brown.

Thursday – At 935Z Rhubarb 21 was scrambled after Esquire 61, 1 B-47. Rhubarb 21 had 1 MA at 1952Z. At 2157Z an ECM exercise was begun. Fricasie 65A Keystone Zulu was target. 14 aircraft were scrambled between 2227Z and 0217Z. There were 13 MA’s and 1 MI due to AEF.

Friday – At 1353Z Chancelight 7 was re-run. At 1452Z 12 aircraft were scrambled from Bagotville. There were 2 ground aborts, 1 air aborts, and 8 MI’s as Scabbard had no paints on targets. Four controllers reported in on TD from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron. At 2200Z an ECM exercise commenced with Fricasie 65 as target. 15 aircraft were scrambled and there were 2 air aborts – 1 due to AEF and 1 due to undercarriage trouble. Other results unknown.

Saturday – Three Auxiliary controllers reported in on TD from 2452 Auxiliary Squadron.

Sunday – Seven 2452 Auxiliary Squadron controllers returned to Quebec.

Monday – F/L Lee reported on special duty from 22 Wing – London Ontario.

Friday – A Broadcast Control exercise was run from 0621Z – 0741Z. There was 1 MA – 1 MI, due to controller error. Reno 41, 1 B-47, flew through – no tactical action as Bagotville was State Red.

Sunday – Three aircrew officers reported on TD from Bagotville.

Tuesday – Three aircrew officers returned to Bagotville (TD Out).

Wednesday – Four Scabbard controllers on TD to Chatham and three on TD to Bagotville. VL3L was made unknown at 0735Z. Largo took necessary tactical action as Scabbard was on daily maintenance at 0830Z. Blacksheep identified VL3L as a Super Constellation.

Thursday – Two controllers returned from TD to Chatham and 3 from Bagotville. Two more controllers out to Chatham on TD. At 1825Z VL14L was made unknown. One aircraft from Bagotville was scrambled at 1830Z but cancelled at 1839Z asVL14L had been identified as Scandinavia 932.

Friday – Four controllers returned from Chatham. Four auxiliary controllers from 2452 Squadron on TD. At 1534Z VL12L was made unknown and Rhino 9 and 29 were scrambled. Scramble was cancelled when Largo advised VL12L was Quebec Air Flight 2. F/O Curran on sick leave.

Saturday – F/O Dockendorff to Lac St. Denis on TD. VL14L was unknown at 1348Z but proved to be a synthetic track as trainer was on.

Sunday – Four Auxiliary controllers returned to Quebec.

Monday – W/C Yarnell on leave. VL19L was unknown at 1822Z. There was no tactical action and Largo made this track friendly at 1847Z. Two Rhino aircraft were scrambled after CD-190, 1 B-47 at 1930Z. Red Lead had an MI – Red 2 an MA.

Tuesday – At 1915Z, Rhino Yellow 1 and 2 were scrambled after Venice 16. Yellow 1 had an MA and Yellow 2 an MI. At 2238Z 3 aircraft were scrambled on Venice 16. Two aircraft had 1 MA.

Wednesday – F/O Sauve posted from Lac St. Denis. At 1112Z, two aircraft were scrambled on Oatmeal 15 (AO13). Oatmeal 15 aborted at 1155Z. Oatmeal 26 was airborne at 1159Z in place of 15. Scabbard had 2 MA’s. At 1317Z, 3 aircraft were scrambled on WG21 – 1 B-47 – Oatmeal 43. 3 MA’s were the result.

Thursday – F/O Tracey on TD from ADCHQ, returned this date. F/O Sauve reported in.

Friday – At 2250Z, 8 aircraft were scrambled after Fricasie 3, an ECM aircraft. Results unknown.

Monday – At 1755Z Exercise "Nimble Bat" was postponed until 12/2/57.

Tuesday – "Nimble Bay" passed through Scabbard’s area from 1610Z – 1715Z. No tactical action taken. At 1846Z, VL12N was made unknown. No tactical action and was identified friendly as Bristol TFX at 1905Z. At 2057 VL14L was unknown and identified as Quebec Air 2 at 2059 by a late flight plan.

Wednesday – At 1856Z Vl6L was made unknown and Rhino 16 was diverted. At 1919Z Rhino 16 identified VL6L as a Lancaster – NNH20 off course on flight plan from YR-RJ-OW. At 140110Z Rhino’s 10 and 37 were diverted onto WG 3 – 1 B-47. Rhino 37 had 1 MA and Rhino 10 has 1 MI – a head on. F/L Lee returned to 22 Wing London.

Thursday – At 1833Z, 8 aircraft were scrambled from Bagotville against Pedlar 25. There was 1 air abort – undercarriage trouble. There were 5 MA’s and 2 aircraft were ordered back to base as target changed flight plan. At 2245Z, the first pair of aircraft, a total of 14 aircraft were scrambled against Fricasie 2 -–an ECM exercise. At 0455Z the last aircraft was handed back to tower with the following results on Fricasie 3: 13 MA’s, 28 MI’s – due to lock ons on chaff.

Friday – At 1237Z, two pair of aircraft from Bagotville were scrambled after Oatmeal 45 – 1 B-47, but were all aborted after takeoff as target was 300 miles off course.

Saturday – At 1750Z VL20L was made unknown but re-identified as Rhino 21 at 1759Z.

Sunday – At 2057Z Punchbowl 12 was carried as an unknown – VL7L and made a Keystone Whiskey by Largo at 2108Z. No tactical action.

Monday – F/L Freebairn and F/L Hind on TD from ADCHQ. At 1022Z VL1L was made unknown – 2 aircraft from Bagotville were scrambled at 1023Z. At 1045Z VL1L was identified as "Clipper 101" – 1 hour behind schedule. Scramble cancelled. At 1227Z Rhino’s 19 and 35 were scrambled on Oatmeal 53. At 1253Z Rhino 19 had 1 MI, Rhino 35 had 1 MA. At 1405Z, 4 aircraft were scrambled on VL5L – Keystone Zulu – Results – 3 MA’s, 1 MI due to radio trouble. At 1817Z Rhino Red section was scrambled (diversion) on VL10L – Keystone Whiskey – Oatmeal 53. At 1819Z Rhubarb Blue scrambled on VL10L. There were 4 resultant MA’s. At 2325Z 2 aircraft were scrambled on Venice 30. 2 MA’s were made.

Tuesday – At 1558Z, one aircraft was scrambled after UN45 – an ECM aircraft. At 1619Z, Rhubarb 17 identified 1 C-119 – 1 MA. At 2035Z VL10L was made unknown and 1 aircraft was scrambled – VL10L was identified as Quebec Air Flight 2. At 0026Z, 2 Rhino aircraft were diverted onto Venice 50, 1 B-47. 2 MA’s. Controller error. F/O Law on TD to Cold Lake.

Wednesday – W/C Snider on sick leave. F/L McLean on leave. At 0530Z two Rhino aircraft were diverted onto Octane 60. 2 MA’s at 0550Z, identified as 1 B-47.

Thursday – At 0740Z, 1 Bagotville aircraft scrambled on VI4 – Fricasie 3 – ECM. At 0806Z, 1 MA by Rhino 37 on VL4L. 1 MA at 0814Z and 1 MA at 0825Z. F/L’s Freebairn and Hind returned to ADCHQ.

Friday – At 0727Z, two fighters were scrambled on Octane 56. Results were 1 MA – 1 MI at 0745Z. At 1427 the first 4 of 9 aircraft were scrambled on Exercise "High Noon" – B-47’s. There were 2 ground aborts, 10 MA’s – 8 MI’s – 7 due to evasive action. 1 AEF.

Saturday – At 1340Z, two aircraft were scrambled on "Peace Keeper" Easy. AE4. There were 2 resultant MA’s at 1410Z.

Sunday – At 1618Z, two aircraft were scrambled after AF770 – 1 Canberra – 2 MI’s resulted because of late scramble. F/O Dockendorff back from Lac St. Denis.

Tuesday – W/C Dupuis and F/L Gibson on TD from Snowshoe. F/O Scott and F/O Brown on leave.

Thursday – "Squad Car" – KC-97’s passed through our area – no tactical action. At 1718Z VL17L was unknown. Two Tiptop aircraft (Ottawa) were diverted after VL17L and it was identified as Beneficial 1 and 2 from Eaglebeak – 2 MA’s. F/O Wright on leave.

Friday – "Squad Car" 28 and 25 passed through – No tactical action. "Shamrock" exercise cancelled at 1826Z. F/O Janes on leave. F/L McLean returned from leave.

Saturday – At 0048Z VL2L was made unknown. 1 CF-100 was scrambled from Bagotville but was cancelled because of weather. VL2L was identified as Quebec Air 4 from late flight plan 1 at 0130Z.

Sunday – At 2250Z VL8K was made unknown – dropping chaff while Scabbard was on release. At 2255Z Blacksheep 30 was scrambled. At 2332Z VL8K was identified friendly by Scooter interception.

Thursday – S/L Dalton and F/L Francis returned to AFHQ and ADCHQ.

Sunday – Nurse Maid exercise passed through Scabbard at 1500Z – No tactical action. F/O Brown returned from leave.

Monday – At 2019Z VL10L was made unknown. At 2019Z two Rhino aircraft were airborne and diverted onto VL10L under Snowshoe control. At 2042Z VL10L was identified as Quebec Air DC-3.

Wednesday – F/O Wright returned from leave. Wedding exercise was cancelled at 2317Z. VL14L was made unknown. At 2319Z VL14L was made friendly by late flight plan 63 from Largo.

Thursday – F/O’s Craig-Collins and Tracy on TD for the day from ADCHQ.

Friday – Wineglass flights – KC-97’s passed through our area – no tactical action. At 1930Z VL19L was made unknown. At 1944Z was re-identified by Largo and Eaglebeak as one of Wineglass aircraft. At 2058Z VL22K was made unknown but re-identified by late flight plan 62. F/O Gatz posted to Beaverbank.

Saturday – At 2135Z VL21L was made unknown on a misplot of 60 miles. F/O Elvidge posted to Lac St. Denis.

Sunday – Nosebleed 37 – 1 B-47 passed through – no tactical action. F/L Montrose from 24 DCC.

Monday – F/L Emerson here on TD from ADCHQ.

Tuesday – F/O Law returned from Cold Lake. P/O Hansley released. At 0228Z four aircraft were scrambled after the first two waves of exercise "Grade School". At 0430Z, three more fighters were scrambled after the 3^rd wave. The results were: 8 MA’s, 15 MI’s due to – 8 evasive action, 2 late scrambles, 1 air abort, 4 controller error.

Wednesday – F/L Emerson returned to ADCHQ. F/O Law out on leave. At 1541Z four aircraft were scrambled after Wedding 31 with a resulting 4 MA’s. At 210017Z, four more fighters were scrambled on Wedding 31 with a resultant 2 MA’s and 2 MI’s due to controller error. Exercise "Grade School" passed through – no Scabbard tactical action.

Thursday – W/C Yarnell on leave. At 2037Z, VL17 was made unknown. At 2046Z, VL17 was identified friendly by a later flight plan from Montreal ATS. At 0055Z, the first pair of 12 aircraft were scrambled after exercise "Grade School". The last pair were scrambled at 0400Z. Results were 8 MA’s – 14 MI’s.

Friday – At 1547Z VL3K was made unknown and then identified friendly by late flight plan at 1550Z.

Saturday – W/C Yarnell returned from leave. At 1522Z VL7 was made unknown. No action or results. At 2049Z VL26 was made unknown. No action or results.

Sunday – W/C Yarnell – F/O Brown on TD to Parent. At 1844Z two aircraft were scrambled after VL31. At 1846Z VL33A was made unknown.. At 1911Z Largo advised two unknowns were Fakers. 2 MI’s on VL31.

Monday – F/O McLean in from Lac St. Denis – posted.

Tuesday – W/C Yarnell - F/O Brown returned from Parent. "Iron Clad" exercise passed through. No tactical action.

Thursday – F/O Law returned from leave. At 1550Z VL8VN was made unknown and was identified by late flight plan at 1605Z.

Monday – F/L Abercrombie – F/O’s Hopping, MacDonald, Currier, Rawson, Lake, Fairbairn on TD from Bagotville.

Tuesday – F/L Abercrombie- F/O’s Hopping, MacDonald, Currier, Rawson, Lake, Fairbairn, returned to Bagotville.

Wednesday – W/C Yarnell on TD to Bagotville.

Thursday – W/C Yarnell returned from Bagotville. At 0357Z, one fighter was scrambled after VL2 – one unknown which proved to be one CF-100, a Faker.

Saturday – At 1644Z, VL16K was made unknown. At 1644Z, VL16K was made friendly by a late revision on flight plan 19.

Sunday – At 1240Z, VL8L was made unknown. At 1250Z Largo identified VL8L as Swiss Air 410. Flight plan 22 – late.

Monday – F/O Wilson on TD from Moisie. W/C Snider returned from 1 R&CS Clinton. At 1730Z, VL19 was made unknown and Rhino 10 was diverted at 1743Z. VL19 was identified friendly at 1810Z.

Tuesday – F/O Tracy on TD from ADCHQ. At 2158Z VL24 was made unknown. Rhino 35 was diverted at 2200Z and identified as 1 RCAF North Star # 17504 at 2212Z.

Wednesday – F/O Tracy returned to ADCHQ.

Thursday – W/C Yarnell, F/L Montrose, F/O Bullock on TD to Bagotville – returned same date. At 1920Z Rhinos 20 and 29 were diverted against Fricasie 2 – ECM aircraft, with a resulting 5 MA’s; 1 MI – due to mechanical jamming. Electronic jamming – strengths 3, 4 and 5 were experienced. At 2040Z, VL18 was made unknown and was identified friendly by Snowshoe interception at 2110Z.

Friday – Tomcat 51 – 1 B-47, passed through at 1930Z. No tactical action taken. At 2228Z Scabbard and one unknown identified at 2240Z by late flight plan.

Saturday – Nelson 32 – overfly – passed at 1645Z. No tactical action.

Monday – At 1554Z, VL12 was made unknown but identified friendly at 1613Z – Quebec Air 1.

Wednesday – At 0030Z, "Chancelight 10" commenced. It ceased at 0220Z with the following results – 2 MA’s and 16 MI’s.

Thursday – At 1839Z two aircraft were scrambled after 1 B-47 – Nelson 51 with resultant 2 MI’s. At 1949Z, VL11A was made unknown. Made friendly at 2102Z – landed at Roberval.

Monday – W/C Snider on TD to ADCHQ. S/L Nevin on TD from ADCHQ. W/C Yarnell on TD to ADCHQ and 1 ADCC.

Tuesday – S/L Nevin returned to ADCHQ. Note that F/O Janes on TD to Cold Lake 27 Apr 57. Nelson 21 – 1 B-47 passed over at 0615 – no tactical action.

Wednesday – Exercise "Main Spring" – no tactical action, overflew this date at 1030Z. F/O Wilson returned to Moisie.

Thursday – F/L Miller – F/O Meredith on TD to Bagotville.

Friday – F/L Miller – F/O Meredith returned from Bagotville.

Saturday – W/C Snider returned from ADCHQ. F/L Montrose on TD to 1 ADCC.

Tuesday – W/C Yarnell and F/L Montrose returned from ADCC. Exercise "Ball Hawk" delayed 24 hours this date. At 0057Z, VL4 was made unknown. At 0130Z VL4 was identified friendly by intercept – Punchbowl 26 – under Snowshoe’s control – diverted to us.

Wednesday – S/L Richards, F/L Robinson, Mr. Ross on TD from ADCHQ.

Thursday – Exercise "Frogman" delayed 24 hours this date – also AC835.

Friday – S/L Richards, F/L Robinson and Mr. Ross returned to ADCHQ.

Sunday – At 2115Z, VL15N was made unknown. At 2216Z, VL15K was identified friendly.

Tuesday – F/L Beattie on TD from ADCHQ. F/O Janes returned from Cold Lake, At 0524Z, VL2 was made unknown. At 0613Z VL2 was identified friendly by interception. At 1802Z VL13 was made unknown. At 1816Z VL13 was identified friendly by Eaglebeak interception. At 1851Z, two fighters were scrambled after Nelson 19 – 1 B-47. 1 MA – 1 MI were the results.

Wednesday – F/L Beattie returned to ADCHQ. Two aircraft were scrambled after "Reno" exercise at 0216Z. Results were 5 TR’s. At 1938Z the first 6 of 8 aircraft were scrambled after exercise "Wedding" – B-47’s. Results were 5 MI’s, 5 MA’s.

Thursday – At 0516Z a "Cocked Pistol" was called. At 0529Z "Applejack" was called. At 0718Z "Lemon Juice" was called. At 0742Z "Applejack" was called. At 0951 "Snowman" was declared. The "All Clear" was sounded at 1004Z. At 0531Z, the first pair of 10 aircraft were scrambled on a B-47 no warning exercise. Final results were 13 MI’s, 1 MA. Mechanical jamming was experienced throughout. At 1625Z "Cocked Pistol" was recalled. At 1645Z the first pair of 4 aircraft were scrambled. Results were 4 MI’s due to evasive action. "Cocked Pistol" was released at 1919Z.

Friday – At 170428Z a "Cocked Pistol" was declared. Six aircraft were committed on exercise "Cannon Ball" (no warning) with 2 MI’s and 4 MA’s. "Lemon Juice" was called at –725Z and "Snowman" at 0929Z. Release was at 0730Z. At 1558Z, VL16 was made unknown – was identified friendly at 1609Z by call to Moncton ATC. At 1924Z a "Cocked Pistol" was declared. The first pair of six aircraft were scrambled on no warning – exercise "Cannon Ball". Results were 8 MA’s, 2 MI’s – released from "Cocked Pistol" at 2157Z.

Saturday – F/L Freebairn on TD to 1 ADCC. At 0725Z a "Cocked Pistol" was declared. The first two of 5 aircraft were scrambled after exercise "Cannon Ball" at 0725Z. Results were 13 MA’s – 5 MI’s. Scabbard was released at 0944Z. At 1025Z, VL14L was made unknown. At 1040Z VL14L was identified friendly by a late flight plan revision (2).

Sunday – Exercise "Cannon Ball" passed through this date – no tactical action.

Tuesday – At 2122Z, VL22L was made unknown. Two fighters were diverted at 2126Z and at 2143Z, VL22L was made friendly.

Wednesday – At 1555Z, four aircraft were scrambled after Fricasie 2 – an ECM aircraft. At 1620Z Fricasie 2 became unserviceable and exercise was cancelled.

Thursday – At 1835Z, four aircraft were scrambled after friendly Fakers. Results were 4 MA’s.

Saturday – At 1330Z, VL2 was declared unknown. Two fighters were diverted and VL2 was made friendly at 1342Z.

Monday – F/O Healey-Ogden on TD to Bagotville.

Tuesday – F/O Healey-Ogden returned to the unit. F/L’s Moore and Wright, and F/O’s Penny and Moore on TD from Bagotville. At 1559Z, VL13L was made unknown. At 1615Z, VL13L was identified friendly. At 1700, an alert was declared by Largo. Six aircraft were scrambled in 14 minutes. Results were 5 MA’s and 13 MI’s. The alert was called down at 1925Z. This was Chancelight 11 – a no warning exercise.

Wednesday – F/L’s Moore and Wright, and F/O’s Penny and Moore returned to Bagotville. At 280030Z, four aircraft of six aircraft were scrambled on a B-52 overflight (Wedding). Results were 5 MA 5 MI. At 1915Z, VL10 was made unknown – Largo advised no tactical action. At 0226Z the first two of 4 aircraft were scrambled on Shamrock – B-52’s. The final tactical results were 7 MA – 5 MI.

Thursday – S/L MacArthur on TD from ADCHQ. At 1436Z VL4 was made unknown. At 1440Z VL4 was identified by Largo as friendly on a late flight plan.

Friday – At 1218Z, VL6 was made unknown. No tactical action was taken. Was never identified. At 010018Z, VL2 was made unknown. Two fighters were scrambled and VL2 was identified as 1 CF-100 – a Faker.
