5 – 16 Feb 73
Base Defence Force training was conducted by unit instructors. Seventeen personnel were trained to qualification BU.
12 Feb 73
CFS Moosonee was visited by Col. JE Neelin, Deputy Chief of Staff, Technical Services Air Defence Command Headquarters, who performed the Commander’s Annual Inspection.
26 Feb – 9 Mar 73
BDF training was conducted. Eleven personnel were qualified.
2 – 13 Apr 73
BDF training was conducted. Fifteen personnel were qualified.
16 – 18 Apr 73
A Defensive Driving Course was conducted by unit instructors. Five personnel became DDC Instructors and eighteen personnel received DDC cards.
1 – 4 May 73
The Ontario Region Small Base Volleyball Championship was hosted by CFS Moosonee. Teams representing Canadian Forces Stations Lowther, Falconbridge, Foymount and Moosonee participated. CFS Moosonee won the highly competitive and exciting tournament.
7 – 9 May 73
A Defensive Driving Course was conducted. Nine personnel completed the required training.
23 – 24 Jun 73
A party, thirty staff and students, from the National Defence College, were hosted by CFS Moosonee. This group led by Brigadier General CH Mussells, visited Moosonee, Moose Factory, and the James Bay lowland areas. CFS Moosonee provided the co-ordination and administrative support related to this visit. The program included an introductory reception, briefings and tours by local officials in addition to a boat trip to James Bay.
30 Jul – 27 Aug 73
During this period a number of rotating rail employee strikes caused severe disruption of this unit’s resupply system. Throughout this period CFS Moosonee was supported by military aircraft provided by 424 Squadron and 436 Squadron. The airlift consisted of six flights and provided 105,200 pounds of food supplies and essential spare parts required to maintain this unit’s operation.
13 – 17 Aug 73
Five personnel were trained on a Volunteer Fire Fighter’s Course.
11 – 12 Sep 73
Col. SD Walker, Deputy Chief of Staff, Construction Engineering, Air Defence Command Headquarters, conducted a staff assistance visit to CFS Moosonee.
9 Oct 73
Sgt. TJ Levins was selected as one of the two outstanding enlisted men to represent the 22nd NORAD Region. This selection was part of the Outstanding Enlisted Service Recognition Program and Sgt. Levins travelled to NORAD Headquarters for the presentation.
30 – 31 Oct 73
NBWC training was provided by unit instructors. Ten personnel completed the ten hours of training.
19 – 21 Nov 73
CFS Moosonee was visited by Col. JA Arnott, Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and Establishments, Air Defence Command Headquarters, who performed the Commander’s Annual Inspection.
3 – 7 Dec 73
Nine personnel were trained on a Volunteer Fire Fighters Course.
