S/L Bishop, F/L Beasleigh and F/L Elton from ADC SOGE Branch visited the Operations site.

13 - 15 Jun 60

F/L Moore and Sgt. Fletcher from RCAF Station North Bay lectured Station personnel on Nuclear Defence.

15 - 16 Jun 60

F/L Cowell, Command Fire Marshall inspected Fire Section, Power Plant and Ops Building.

Recreation - All summer sports got into full swing during the month of Jun with personnel and dependants taking part in swimming, tennis, boating, water skiing, softball, fishing and track and field. The school children’s field day was held at the end of the month.
Hospital - There was one emergency medical airlift during June.
Operations - During the month of Jun there were the following exercises: 1 Big Blast, 4 Chainshot, 1 Coldwind, 11 STM’s and 5 ECM.

Recording of frequency and voltage of town power to determine its adequacy for future RCAF usage.

Submission of annual estimate for 1961/62 fiscal year.

12 - 14 Jul 60

F/L Collins, F/C Birchall and Cpl. Robertson from ADC SOPR Branch visited the station.

14 Jul 60

Mr. Buchan AFHQ Engineer inspected and accepted sewage plant and boiler piping in Power Plant.
Visit by Mr. Barlow DCL Engineer for inspection of various DCL contracts.
Visit by r. Cooper of Dior - Oliver - Long Ltd., for bringing sewage plant into operation.
Visit by Mr. Faullsner, AFHQ for checking Power Dam and meeting with towns people to obtain more information to determine power adequacy for RCAF use.

Acceptance of piping Power Plant.

Recreation for the month - Station personnel took part in the ADC Wire Track & Field meet. The greater part of the month was taken up with preparation for the Annual Summer Carnival. RCAF Station Senneterre sports representatives were met at the train by a welcoming committee the evening of the 21st. The next morning the Carnival Parade was held. In the afternoon competitions began which lasted throughout the weekend in softball, tennis, archery, water skiing and swimming. A big Carnival dance was held Saturday night at which the Carnival Queen was chosen. Sunday afternoon the station put on a water sports show which consisted of water skiing stunts, motor boat operation and sailing. Competition between Senneterre and Parent was tied up to this point and the deciding factor turned out to be the softball game which Parent won thus winning the Carnival competition. On Sunday night another dance was held at which time the trophies and awards were presented.
Operations - During the month of Jul the following exercises took place: 4 Big Blast, 3 Chainshot, 1 Wide Awake, 12 STM and 3 ECM.

2 Aug 60

Vehicle control course commencement 39 DND 404 holders to be brought up to new standard as laid down in Driving Standards RCAF.

8 - 19 Aug 60

VanCal team 6 from Canadian Aviation Electronics Ltd. Calibrated all electronic test equipment on the unit.

9 - 11 Aug 60

S/L Ultican AFHQ Telecom Branch to discuss the installation of the second height finder FPS-507.

10 - 22 Aug 60

Northern Electric Company Ltd., FMP completed an overhaul of the UHF equipment.

18 Aug 60

RCA Victor installation crew commenced work on the FPS-507 height finder installation.
Completed roof construction under Main dome.
Completed radome hold down ring pedestal pad repair Ginpole Modification.
Completed Power line renovation.
Take over of Projects NCO. Instruction of new CE organization.

31 Aug 60

Recreation for the month - The inter-section softball league went into the Play-Offs with Scopers winning the league.
Lessons in sailing were given by our water sports officer.
Organizational meetings were held throughout the month for Fall and Winter sports.
The first of a series of monthly swim meets for the children was held 24 Aug.
On 31 Aug the Station Track & Field Team competed in the RCAF Uplands Invitational Meet. LAW O Hlipka took three firsts and Best Woman athlete of the Meet.
Hospital - There was one emergency medical airlift during August.
Operations - The following exercises took place during the month of Aug: 5 Big Blast, 3 Chainshot, 1 Coldwind, 7 STM, 1 Sioux Brave and 1 ECM.

The RCA Victor technician overhauled the 15J1D Target simulator.

The AN/GPS-501 (SIF) was completed to the point of limited capability and used operationally.

F/L Howson ADC, SOSec Branch made a security inspection.

20 - 21 Sep 60

F/L Healey-Ogden, Sector Lac St. Denis, accompanied Dr. Alderdice, Montreal Sector SDC, on his initial visit to the unit.

F/O Jacobs ADC Welfare Officer visited this unit.

24 Sep 60

F/L Collins ADC, SOPR Branch visited the unit and town of Parent to gather material for a feature story on Parent.

F/O Billesberger from North Bay inspected small arms and explosives.

Recreation for the month - The Flag Football League got underway and work started on the proposed Station Golf Course.
A Horseshoe pitching contest was held on the 12 Sep which was well attended.
14 Sep the PMQ Council put on a Square Dance that proved to be very popular.
During the week of 18 Sep the Bowling Leagues started with Men’s, Ladies and Mixed Leagues.
Children’s swimming classes for beginners got underway on 26 Sep.
Operations - During the month of Sep there were the following exercises: 2 Big Blast, 1 Bone Yard, 1 Sky Shield, 3 Chainshot, 1 Sioux Chief, 1 Jet Stream Delta, 1 STM and 2 ECM.

Fire Prevention Week - displays, poster competition for school children and hose laying competition held.

F/O Porter, ADC ND to conduct a Command radiation fallout test.

The annual overhaul of the AN/FPS-508 Search Radar was carried out by the Northern Electric FMP.

6 Oct 60

Northern Electric Company Ltd., antenna overhaul party installed eight AS-505B/UHF antenna and overhauled the balance of UHF antenna farm.

8 - 10 Oct 60

The Azimuth Time Recorder was installed at this unit by Canadian Arsenals Ltd. technicians.

12 Oct 60

F/L Wolff NNRHQ conducted a staff study - Air Defence Systems.

13 Oct 60

ADCOM 2 Phase 2 (Parent - Mont Apica) took over full microwave traffic between these points.

14 Oct 60

The Troposcatter equipment operated by Canadian Westinghouse personnel was shut down and packed for shipment to Station St. Sylvestre. This equipment had handled all microwave traffic to Mont Apica.

Dump truck upset - ending 206 days accident free driving.

Recreation for the month - On 1 Oct the Station Soccer team traveled to RCAF Station Senneterre and were defeated.
The Station Rec. Council sponsored a Station Monte Carlo night.
On 3 Oct adult swimming classes began and were attended by male and female personnel.
On 2 Oct Silhouette classes began with 25 wives taking one hour’s physical fitness and sports twice a week.
5 Oct the first Bingo of the season was held.
On 6 Oct Judo classes began.
From1 to 8 Oct Fire Prevention Week was held with a dance on 8 Oct which turned out to be one of the best evenings of entertainment in a long while due to the newly organized Station Dance Band.
On 13 Oct the school children’s bowling began.
On 14 Oct the Hobby Shop opened.
On 15 Oct Club 14 held a very successful talent show.
On 20 Oct Toyland opened. Rehearsals began for the Station Variety Show.
On 26 Oct the children’s Swim Meet (ADC Wire) was held.
On 30 Oct Volleyball and Basketball began.

The retrofit of the FPS-6 was carried out by the RCA Victor installation party.

Extensive winter works programme approved $18,000. OO primary 14.

The AN/GPS-501(SIF) installation was completed to full capability.

F/O Jacobs ADC Welfare Officer visited unit.

F/L Boutet, CFIN/DCFA, and F/O Goudron SGSO visited to discuss problems in medical cost accounting.
Mr. Oldershott of Canadian Marconi Company visited the unit for the purpose of instructing radar technicians on the magnetrons used by the AN/FPS-507 Height Finders.

22 Nov 60

G/C Light, AFHQ and W/C Rodger ADC dedicated the Protestant Chapel.

29 - 30 Nov 60

F/L Guay and F/O Woods, ADC SOCE Branch visited the unit.

Recreation for the month - Work on the ski hill progressed favourably. The curling rink building was repaired and work on the hockey rink almost completed.
On 3 Nov the toboggan hill was renovated.
On 4 Nov the Trumpet and Drum Band was organized and rehearsals began.
On 19 Nov the WA Annual Bazaar was held and was a tremendous success.
Also on 19 Nov a Grey Cup Dance ended an East vs. West Football Game where a Queen was chosen. Also Flag football finals were played with CommRads winning the championship.
Hospital - There was one emergency medical airlift during Nov.
Operations - The following exercises took place during the month of Nov: 1 Big Blast, 3 Chainshot, 1 Dawn Dance, 4 ECM
