912 – CAS and 912 – PDC:

During the period 1 July through 30 September 1961 these sections have accomplished and experienced the following:

This unit was visited by the 30^th Air Division Training and Utilization Team on 24-25 July 1961. Results of the visit were rated "Good".

Sections were briefed on Records Control and Disposition of records to insure proper records would be staged and forwarded to staging areas.

912 – CIG-S:

During the month of August 61, A/1C JC Turck was reassigned to the Zone of Interior on a PCS movement. During September 61, S/Sgt. Anthony P Lucciola was reassigned to the Zone of Interior on a PCS movement. Air Police strength now at five personnel.

There were three reportable accidents during this period. One occurred off station and two occurred on station. No injury was involved in the accidents. All concerned property damage.

There were three traffic citations issued during this period. One was issued on station for speeding and two were issued off station; for speeding and one for operation of a vehicle in an unsafe manner.

The status of discipline and the morale of the station are considered to be excellent.

912 – IDC:

Contracts completed during this period consisted of Repair of Heating Plant, Construction of Salvage Shelter, Cleaning of Septic Tank and Construction of Sewage Treatment Plant.

Contracts partially completed consists of repair to heating system at water reservoir and Airman Dining Hall.

There were eleven projects completed by station personnel, military and civilian, during this period.

Expenditures for maintenance and repairs were somewhat higher than the previous period. Approximately 16, 428 man hours were required to accomplish the mission of the section in maintenance and operation of Diesel Power Plant, Central Heating Plant and other related facilities.

912 – CSG:

T/Sgt. Tracy gave a course in First Aid to the Boy Scouts of Holtyre, Ontario, which consisted of material from the Canadian Boy Scout Manual. An examination was given upon completion of the 13 hour course to determine the number of scouts eligible for their second class badges.

The medical section made two mercy runs for the village of Ramore, consisting of 1 male civilian and 1 female child. The male was taken to Kirkland and District Hospital, Kirkland Lake. The female child was taken to Timmins Hospital, Timmins. M/Sgt. Hickman administered mouth to mouth respiration to the child which was an important factor of maintaining her life until arrival at the Timmins Hospital.

Routine medical inspections were performed at the Dining Hall, Base Exchange and the NCO Open Mess, which resulted in satisfactory conditions.

A total of 44 days were lost during the reporting period due to sickness and minor accidents.

912 – ODC:

Eleven airmen in the 3-level and one 5-level airman were tested and qualified with passing scores. As a result, all airmen were upgraded in their specialty.

The Operations Officer, Captain Michael will be replaced by Captain Hackley in the near future. Captain Michael will be returning to the ZI to become Operations Officer at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

912 – SSV:

The Softball Team completed a very successful season winning 22 games and lost only 7. They continued their success in the playoffs, winning the Intertown AA and Intermediate A championships.

The membership cards purchased from the Kirkland Lake Golf Club were used frequently by squadron personnel and personnel were very pleased with the facilities at the club.

Sportsmen took advantage of the many items available for fishing, boating, hunting and camping during the seasons as these items were constantly being checked out.

912 – FSV:

Five-in-one rations have been shipped to gaining organizations as directed by higher headquarters.

912 – MTP:

Inventory of equipment and tools has been accomplished for turn over to the RCAF. Equipment has been repaired, painted and safety belts installed on all passenger carrying vehicles.

912 – BEX:

The Exchange was visited by Mr. McGraw, General Manager in August. Stock was inventoried and authorized mark down for an August sale. Major Brittenham, Central Exchange Office, arrived with 4602 Phase Out Team in September. This was his first visit to this unit.

A/1C Pearce, Branch Manager, relocated all stock – the stock in the Dining Hall Wing was moved into the Multi-Purpose Building.

In line with the local phase out plan, stock replenishment was limited to minimum essential items. Special orders were cut off on 23 August to insure the arrival of goods prior to close out of the Exchange. Disposition instructions on excess equipment were received. All equipment excess to the immediate requirement was salvaged.

The Branch Exchange will close 1 Dec 61.

912 – MSS:

A program was established during this period to improve certain areas of the supply section. Consideration was given to the following areas and action accomplished is as indicated: (a) Quarterly inventory of tool kits were taken. New listings were prepared and shortages are being requisitioned. Action to be completed 1 Oct 61. (b) As a result of a recent Staff Visit, a project was established to re-warehouse, prepare new records and post recaps daily in IDC Supply and the main warehouse. (c) Inventory of all scheme property was taken and new records were prepared. Action completed and no shortages were discovered. (d) Inventory of all UAL property was accomplished on 5 Jul 61, no shortages discovered. Inventory of CAN/MEAL property is presently underway.

ADC UAL review was conducted at 4602^nd Supply Wing (ADC) during 5-9 Sep 61. This also included the in-use report due as of 30 Sep 61, as extended to 15 Oct 61. A total of $1,000.00 was added to the UAL and a total of $29,299.00 was deleted from the UAL. (a) As a result of project phase-out and ADC UAL review, all requisitions for UAL property on stateside depots were cancelled. A large savings to the USAF resulted from this action.

912 – OAC:

No major equipment changes have been made during this period.

RCA Contractor has started erecting the antenna poles at the GATR Site and equipment installation should be completed during the next quarter.

CAE caulked the search radar rigid radome during the period 3 Aug to 8 Aug 61, to remove the installation deficiency.

Test equipment calibration and minor overhaul was accomplished by CAE during the week of 20 Aug 61.

Key NCO personnel changes were the transfer of T/Sgt. Howard J Treadway to the ZI on 22 Jul 61 and the arrival of T/Sgt. Nolan B Holland on 19 Jun 61.

912 – FLT:

During the period of this report, the following was accomplished and experienced by this section: (a) 88 hours flown this quarter. (b) Aircraft out of commission 98:00 hours for maintenance. (c) No major parts breakdown. (d) Total fuel used was 1,482 Imperial gallons. (e) No pilot gains since last report. (f) Major Voight and Lt. Desrochers departed PCS 29 Sep 61.
