GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Special Calling Instructions: To report a Fire, call 117 and give the location of the Fire.
  2. Telephone Service: The main objective of the Telephone System is to furnish the best possible service to all subscribers. All Telephone Operators have been thoroughly indoctrinated on courteously completing subscribers' calls with speed and accuracy. The usage of good telephone practices by the subscriber will help us to better our standards in this objective.
  3. Requests for Maintenance Service: Requests for maintenance service will be submitted on a DF Form to the Communications Officer. The OIC of the requesting section will be required to sign the DF Form.
  4. Care of Equipment: Under no circumstance will the subscriber move, alter or make modifications to the telephone equipment installed. Only the Communications Wire Maintenance Section is authorized to perform this work. The OIC of each section is held responsible for the proper care of installed telephone equipment.
  5. Telephone Tips:
    a. Answer your telephone promptly.
    b. Identify yourself when answering by giving office and name.
    c. Speak distinctly and directly into the telephone.
    d. Volunteer the whereabouts of an absent person.
    e. Please call by number.
  6. Security: Classified information will not be discussed over the telephone.
  7. Profane and Vulgar Language: The use of profane and vulgar language is strictly prohibited over the telephone.
  8. Long Distance Calls: All subscribers, except the Commander, the Operations Officer, and Operations Duty Controllers, will obtain a Control Number from the Administrative Officer (Ext. 101) prior to placing a Long Distance call. The Control Number, name of person placing call, and the destination of the call, will be given to the Switchboard Operator when placing the call.
  9. Subscriber Complaints: All complaints regarding telephone service will be reported to the Communications Center NCOIC.
