During this reporting period, the Squadron has received two Radar Sets AN/FPS-6B which have been expected for some time. These high power height finders are of Canadian manufacture and of United States design. These sets were shipped by moving van uncrated. This method of transportation eliminates the high cost of packaging and boxing.

The former Communications and Electronics Officer completed his overseas tour of duty in June and was re-assigned to the Continental United States after being here for three years. The present Communications and Electronics Officer reported in in June. There is no Radar Maintenance Officer or Communications Officer assigned, however this does not seem to be a serious problem. Manning in all enlisted ranks for all of the Communications and Electronics sections continue to be sufficient in numbers and of high quality. There are no manning problems in this section.

During this reporting period, the personnel section had an inspection visit from Duluth on Officer Personnel Records. The Personnel people received an excellent report on the condition of these records. Sergeant Martin had a visit from the 4602^nd Support Wing on Finance matters, and once again the Personnel section came out Tops on the Pinetree.

The Training and Utilization Team from Headquarters 30^th Air Division made a Staff Visit to the Squadron during this period.

Major Peterson, Director of Administrative Services, Duluth ADS, visited the Administrative Section to perform an inspection of Publications. Sergeant Luciani and his staff came out with an excellent rating.

The Administrative and Personnel Section lost two top notch personnel the 1^st of July. Sergeant Schnepf left for a Stateside assignment at HQ, ADC, to work in Officers Assignment Branch. A/2C Kurowski departed for assignment to HQ, 30^th Air Division. Two 70250 AFSC’s were deleted from the latest UMD.

The Supply section has completed its part in the recent USAF simultaneous inventory "Project Count", and the results have proved beneficial in that we have returned numerous items to US depots that were excess to our requirements.

The line item inventory of the Technical Supply section has increased by approximately 600 items due to the receipt of two AN/FPS-6B Radar Sets. Adequate storage is available for this increase and no immediate storage problem exists.

Personnel manning is below UMD authorization with the return of two airmen to the US in June, but should improve with the recent change to the UMD which authorizes a transportation specialist and an additional supply specialist effective 1 October.

No major problems existed in the Food Service Section during this period.

A Staff Assistance Visit was conducted by the 4602^nd Support Wing in this section. The visit was conducted in May 1960. Assistance was rendered by the visiting team on the minor problems which existed.

The annual audit was conducted in June by the team from Duluth Air Defense Sector. No major discrepancies existed.

A new Food Service Officer was assigned to this section. Captain Alan R Hogan who replaced Major Edwin L Klein.

During the month of June 1960 a Food Service Conference was held at the RCASC Supply Depot, Fort Osborne Barracks, Winnipeg. Captain Alan R Hogan and T/Sgt. Charles E Knipple attended this conference and assistance was rendered on minor problems which existed. A new forecasting of ration was initiated to assist both depot and the section in better management procedures and reducing ration cost. Numerous policies and procedures were discussed. Effective August 1960 individual packages of cereal will be issued to the dining halls on the Pinetree Line.

The Air Police Section lost two Airmen during this reporting period. S/Sgt. Robert Deardorff rotated to the ZI, and A/1C George Cvijanovich has been discharged. One Airman has been assigned to the Section, T/Sgt. John O McCleary. There are six Air Policemen authorized and five currently assigned to this Squadron. We have a forecast to gain two Staff Sergeants during August 1960.

The Air Police shields were received on 1 June and have replaced the arm brassards as part of the Air Police uniform.

The status of discipline within the unit remains very good.
