Commanders:

The Squadron has completed all actions required for self support as a remote station. Since being designated remote a 50% turnover of personnel has occurred. Replacements are arriving quickly and the qualification of personnel is excellent. Morale is very high. The health and welfare of personnel remains excellent.

Operations:

During the month of September, this section received a satisfactory rating from the Northern NORAD Region Operational Readiness Evaluation, 1^st Air Force Tactical Evaluation, and ADC Operational Readiness Inspection Teams. This section participated in 2 SSTM and 4 Live Division exercises, 1 Live Region exercise, and 2 SSTM and 1 Live Multi-Region exercises, during this quarter. There were no director gains or losses during this period, however, the overall section manning was reduced to 69% due to a loss of personnel affected by the closing of base housing on the support base.

CEM Maintenance:

During this period a maximum effort was expended in order to provide support for NORAD/1^st Air Force operational ORE and ADC TAC Evaluation these missions were conducted during the middle and end of September. Compliments were received for CE support of these missions. A maximum effort was also expended on training and orientation of personnel during this period due to a 55% turnover of personnel. The MDC Zero error rate was accomplished again during the months of June and July. This squadron is the only squadron in 37 Air Division to put two error free months back to back. During this period major changes were made in maintenance management procedures (due to publication of the new Air Force Manual 66-1) and Preventative Maintenance Inspection documentation (due to the new automated AFTO 210D system).

Unit Supply:

During the period of this report 1^st Lt. Thomas B Elin assumed the duties as Unit Supply Officer. There was a loss of 7 military personnel and a gain of 1 military and 5 civilian personnel. A transportation section for the squadron was established in July due to the phasing out of Ernest Harmon AFB in December. The transportation section is located in Bldg. 1508 Unit Supply, and is under the supervision of the Supply Officer and the NCOIC of Unit Supply. Since the establishment of the transportation section, this station has performed the duties of shipping and receiving of AF property, including the movement of personnel to and from the site via chartered commercial Air and Ground Transportation Service. OOI have been written and placed into effect pertaining to the specific duties of transportation personnel. Unit Supply and Material Control were inspected and no major discrepancies were found. All manuals, regulations and forms required for the increased responsibilities of this section, together with the transportation section requirements have been placed on order again since a very limited supply of publications have been received in this section during the last three months. New furniture for the barracks has been received and the old has been turned in to Goose AB, Labrador.

Food Service:

During this period this section had a loss of 5 military personnel, and a gain of none. We now have a total of 2 military and 17 civilians assigned to this section. Also during this period we were selected the best Dining Facility in 1^st Air Force in Category 1 competition. A brochure has been prepared in accordance with ADC regulation 146-3 and sent forward to HQ ADC for review. This section experienced no difficulty in operating within the prescribed monetary allowance during this period. Even though this section has gone under contract Operational Mix-Fix, there are no problems in operating at Air Force Standards.
