Commanders:

On 28 October 1966, Lt. Colonel John H Fuss departed PCS and Major Frederick W Brown assumed command. Rehabilitation of BOQ was completed and work began on the airmen’s barracks. Proposed plans for an addition to the NCO Club were approved. Morale remained high.

Operations:

During the month of November, this section received a satisfactory rating on the 37^th NORAD Air Division NEC Evaluation. In addition this section participated in seven Division SSTM exercises, one live region exercise, and one multi-region SSTM exercise. Director gains for this period were 1^st Lt. Robert J Stange and 1^st Lt. Dennis A Johnson, and losses were 1^st Lt. Harry G Giles. In addition this section gained fourteen enlisted personnel and lost six enlisted personnel due to rotation. During the month of October T/Sgt. Billy W Payne received the Air Force Commendation Medal from his previous assignment at Headquarters 34^th Air Division, Custer AFS, Battle Creek Michigan.

Communications Electronics Maintenance:

During this period Captain Ray Grant arrived as Communications Officer, replacing 1^st Lt. Richard J Grybko, who departed station PCS. Included in gains for this period were one (1) officer, seven (7) NCOs, and two (2) airmen. Losses included one (1) officer and two (2) airmen. Two (2) each AN/UPA-35 Indicators were received and installed in operations. Headquarters ADC performed an Equipment Utilization Survey for 29 November 1966 to 2 December 1966.

Unit Supply:

During the period of this report personnel losses included the retirement of one civilian and the rotation of 1 (1) S/Sgt. Gains for the period included one (1) T/Sgt., the NCOIC of Unit Supply, and one (1) S/Sgt., the NCOIC of Material Control, and two (2) airmen. A complete re-warehousing project has been initiated in material control to facilitate easier Issue and Inventory of Bench Stock. During this period, there were only two (2) NORS items due to the co-operation and coordination between Maintenance and Supply. The Unit Supply warehouse had all new Dexian Bins built and marked for rewarehousing.

Civil Engineering:

During this period improvements were made to the access road which included ballasting and the installation of two new snow markers and reflectors on the side of the road towards St. George’s Bay. A new road to TACAN was bulldozed eliminating steep grades to permit operation of the Track Master. Widened the TACAN road around the pond. The Motor Pool recently acquired a fork-lift and D-8 tractor for permanent use at the station. A contract for the local procurement of 24,980 gallons of MOGAS was awarded to Golden Eagle Refining Company of Canada Ltd., and the first delivery of 1,100 gallons was made on 13 December 1966. Pinsent Construction Company completed Project STE 5-7, "maintain BOQ, Building 1530" which included the interior repainting and replacement of light fixtures in the hallways. Project STE 4-7, "maintain dormitories, buildings 1532 and 1533" which was also awarded to Pinsent Construction Company was started in the latter part of November. This project includes the replacement of deteriorated windows, wainscoting and floor covering in the hallways, repainting of bedrooms and replacement of closets as well as the removal of all latrines. Webb Construction Company completed Project STE 4-6, "repair condensate lines" in various station facilities.

Food Service:

During this period four personnel were assigned to Food Service. S/Sgt. Ulysee Glaze was assigned as mess supervisor. There are no problems in this section and morale is at an all time high.

Security and Law Enforcement:

Personnel losses during this period included A/2C James V Williamson who departed this station for McGuire AFB, New Jersey for separation. Gains included A/2C Edward C Norton. As of 31 December 1966 the assigned strength of this section is four.
