Electric cable, property of the Cribb Construction Company, employed in the Operations building, reported missing. Cable valued at $500.00 and the incident reported to the RCMP.

The Century Series Briefing Team, consisting of Colonel EL Rathburn and six other USAF officers visited the unit and briefed all officers. Fire was reported at #1 pump house. Ceiling damage around exhaust pipe going through roof was incurred. No injuries resulted and total damage amounted to $125.00.

Cpl. GP Hurley was involved in a PMC accident on Kelly Lake Road. Nil injuries resulted and damage totalled $800.00. W/C Sarty SOGT ADCHQ paid one day visit to unit - purpose being Ground Training discussions.

A/C JB Harvery CStaffO ADCHQ paid a two day staff visit to this unit. RCAF vehicle struck by PMC in front of combined mess and Cpl. HA Gillis (of PMC) found to be at fault. Nil injuries sustained and minor damages done to PMC. Service vehicle damages totalled $290.00.

Ground Training - Semi-annual TA course was given to a total of 13 FtrCops from 22 AC&W Squadron. This Unit continues to participate in three System Training Missions per week.
A total of 5 officers attended CPU Courses at Cold Lake. Five Officers and one WO visited Bangor ADS, SAGE and DOW AFB.
A continuous training program is carried out by the training section.

Section VII - Security

1 Dec 61

Insecurity - 0640 hours. SAO’s office door found open. Check revealed all in apparent order. F/O Graham informed.

2 Dec 61

Staff Inspection - F/L Howson ADC SOSec Office visited the unit on a security and police inspection.
Traffic Accident - Sgt. Casavant involved in a PMC accident on the Beaverbank Railroad crossing. Nil injuries. 1 Dec 61 2355 hours.

3 Dec 61

Discipline - Sgt. Casavant employed at the C&E Section was denied to leave the unit at 0030 hours - suffering from over-indulgence of alcoholic beverages. After consuming a quantity of coffee, was permitted to leave the Unit driving his PMC.
Fire Hazard - It has been noted that an accumulation of rubbish deposited in the basement of the Combined Mess is a potential fire hazard as the contents of ash trays etc have been dumped and accumulated near the rear door. Reported to the Fire Chief.

4 Dec 61

Theft Cable - Electric cable property of the Cribb Construction employed in the Operations building power plant missing. Approximately 30 feet which is valued at $500.00. This theft reported to the RCMP.

5 Dec 61

Traffic Accident - LAC Gloade MSE reported that while he was proceeding south on the Beaverbank Road, was hit from behind by another PMC causing damage to his bumper and trunk. This PMC then left the scene of the accident without giving particulars which is required by law. The license number was obtained and the RCMP informed.

6 Dec 61

Theft PMC - Cpl. Northrup reported that he had parked the PMC property of LAW Roberge in the rear of the Airwomen’s barracks after having driven Roberge to the International Airport to catch an aircraft, and was missing at this time. Apparently Cpl. Northrup had the keys in the MSE Lockup. Investigation revealed that LAW Roberge was not the owner and had borrowed the PMC from Mrs. Laverty 532 Gottigen Street, Halifax. Mrs. Laverty had obtained the PMC during the evening, sponsored by an Airwoman onto the unit.
Marital Problems - FS E Brown PMQ #81 informed the Air Force Police that his son-in-law Mr. Dean was not permitted on the unit. Apparently Mr. Dean has assaulted his wife - Sgt. Browns daughter - who had escaped to the unit for protection. The NCO i/c AFP acted as a mediator and after some reconciliation both parties returned to marital bliss.

8 Dec 61

Fire - At 2120 hours, it was reported to AFP that a house was on fire, on the Beaverbank Road approximately one mile south of the unit. Station Fire Department attended at scene. House owned by Robert Lively - damage fairly extensive.

10 Dec 61

Discipline - Whilst checking and securing messes at about 0200 hours, duty AFPman had difficulty with 73460 LAC RW Patey. Eventually had to forcibly remove this airman to barracks. Patey was later charged and received a $15.00 fine and 14 days CC awarded by CTechO.

11 Dec 61

Miscellaneous - WO2 LeBlanc reported that his wife had been bitten by a dog owned by F/O Bilton. The latter produced a certificate that his dog had been vaccinated against rabies. He was also informed to regulations regarding dogs running loose on the station.
Theft - Sgt. Harpell reported that a firefighters lamp had been stolen while the department had been attending a fire on the Beaverbank Road.
Insecurity - Double doors north end of Supply found open at 1830 hours. Checked and secured. Supply notified.
Insecurity - Central Warehouse in Rec. Centre found insecure at 2315 hours. Sgt. Poirier attended and checked. All in apparent order.

14 Dec 61

Insecurity - Solarium doors of hospital found open at 2045 hours. Hospital was checked and secured. N/S informed.

15 Dec 61

Discipline - Cpl. Newlove, FtrCop, stopped at main gate by duty AFP for impaired driving. His car was impounded and keys retained at guardhouse. Time was 0200 hours approximately.

16 Dec 61

Insecurity - 2150 hours. Receiver gates found open. Building checked and gates secured.

18 Dec 61

Discipline - CO reported that about 2030 hours, there were some boys on the roof of the Rec. Centre looking into the girls dressing room. This matter was investigated and the culprits apprehended.

20 Dec 61

Theft - LAC Eustace reported the theft of some Xmas tree lights from a tree outside of his PMQ. Youngsters suspected but investigation inconclusive.

24 Dec 61

Insecurity - Main doors of Snack Bar found open at 1930 hours. All appeared in order inside. Mr. Lively notified but he did not wish to check himself.

28 Dec 61

Discipline - 2050 hours. LAC Eustace, FtrCop, this unit, caused a disturbance in the guardroom by swearing and then grabbing the telephone and calling the Commanding Officer. Eustace was returning from Halifax by taxi and was in an intoxicated condition. On the 4 Jan 62 he was awarded 7 days CC by the COpsO for this infraction.

3 Jan 62

Attempted Theft - Civilian cleaners at the Recreation centre reported that attempts had been made during the weekend of the 30 Dec - 1 Jan to break into the pop machine located in the basement of the building. Attempts were unsuccessful, however 15 or 20 empty pop bottles had been smashed.

PMC Accident - LAC Nickerson reported that he had been involved in a PMC accident at Kentville, NS on the 3 Jan 62.
Discipline - Advised that LAC Eustace had been awarded a $10.00 fine and 7 days CC.

7 Jan 62

PMC Accident - F/O Cahill reported that he had been involved in a PMC accident on the Beaverbank Road on the 6 Jan 62. Nil injuries. Total damage $130.00.

15 Jan 62

Insecurity - When securing doors to Airmen’s Canteen, door lock A1 was found to be U/S thus admittance to entire combined mess could be effected. Close check maintained on building and CE notified of repair.
Loss - LAC Walker reported the loss of his wallet in the Airmen’s Canteen. Wallet contained personal papers including Identification card. Thorough search failed to uncover. Arrangements made for re-processing for a new "I" card.

17 Jan 62

Fire - Fire alarm sounded 0943, 17 Jan, for fire reported at #1 pump house. Ceiling damage around exhaust pipe going through the roof. Fire discovered by Mr. B England during routine inspection. Damage has been assessed at $125.00. Nil injuries.

19 Jan 62

Discipline - Duty AFPman requested to assist in quieting down Airmen’s Canteen as a presentation was to take place shortly and some semblance of order was required.

22 Jan 62

Security - Four civilians employed as security guards for GATR site reported for duty.

23 Jan 62

Discipline - Duty fire piquet LAC Perkins reported that two teenagers had refused to leave the Rec. Centre at his request. AFP attended but persons involved had departed. These youngsters were later interviewed and warned regarding this incident.
Insecurity - South door of CE section found insecure. F/O Belovich was advised and door secured.

26 Jan 62

Fire - Fire alarm sounded 0835 hours this date. Investigated faulty furnace at PMQ 77. No damage.
Damage to Mail - Mrs. Mosher, postmistress, reported that someone had poured a bottle of Coca-Cola into the mailbox located in the post office lobby. Several outgoing letters were badly damaged in this act. Incident believed to have occurred on the 24 Jan 62. Small children believed to be responsible however almost impossible to determine the culprits.

29 Jan 62

MV Accident - An accident occurred in the Operations compound between a Cribb Construction Company vehicle and a transport truck owned by Barnhill Transfer Company of Halifax. Nil injuries. Damage estimated at $100.00 to Cribb vehicle. No further action required.

1 Feb 62

PMC Accident - Cpl. GP Hurley, Comm Tech, RCAF Station Beaverbank, reported that he had turned his car over while driving on the Kelly Lake Road, Halifax County, NS. Nil injuries. Damage estimated at $800.00.

8 Feb 62

Fire - Station Fire equipment attending a house fire off unit at Kinsac, NS. AFP also proceeding to scene. House occupied by a Mr. Cokely. Extensive interior damage. Nil injuries.
Security - LAC Hennigar, bar steward, Sgts. Mess, reporting at 2330 hours that he had accidentally locked mess keys in the refrigerator. Lock on the refrigerator was cut open by AFP in the am of 9 Feb with steward in attendance.

10 Feb 62

B&E - Cpl. Postlethwaite, Orderly Cpl. this date, reported that it appeared a break and enter had taken place into the pop machine located in the entrance to the Airmen’s Canteen. Investigation revealed no sign of forced entry. Checked by LAC Ruckstuhl, steward, who advised that contents seemed in order.
Discipline - Miss MacDonald, school teacher, reported that a man was in the female officers quarters. Duty AFP investigated. LAC CAL Moore, PPOp, found asleep inside entrance. Escorted to his PMQ. Further action to be taken.

12 Feb 62

Security - Commissionaire Davis reported from the Operations Building that civilian personnel of the Canadian Aviation Electronic Company employed in the building were causing a disruption to security measures in effect when entering the building past the Commissionaire. They were also apparently extremely rude. NCO i/c AFP interviewed persons concerned and effected steps to prevent re-occurrence of above.

13 Feb 62

PMC Accident - LAC HR Aucoin, FtrCop, reported that he was involved in a minor automobile accident on the 12 Feb 62. Nil injuries. Total damage about $65.00.

16 Feb 62

Discipline - LAC SM Robinson, Comm Tech, warned re speeding on this unit. Complaint of S/L Bruner. Offence took place in PMQ area about 1300 hours, 16 Feb 62.

17 Feb 62

PMC Accident - LAC JG Tessier, Radar, reported that he had been involved in a PMC accident on the Beaverbank Road. Nil Injuries. Total damage to both vehicles about $200.00.

21 Feb 62

Lost Child - Mrs. Lavallee, PMQ #14, reported that a lost child had been turned over to her by snow removal crew after it had nearly been hit with the snow plow. AFP took charge and after inquiries determined the child belonged to LAC Robichaud, PMQ #54.
False Alarm - 1420 hours. Fire alarm sounded at school. Investigation revealed that no fire present but a short had occurred in the alarm system. Children allowed to re-enter building. Adjustments made.
Alleged Theft - 2030 hours. Miss Ruby Patton, employed in Combined Mess, reported to AFP that on the 11 Feb 62 a pair of black fur lined gloves had been stolen from her at the Rec. Centre. On this date she had observed Miss Brenda Clarke, daughter of Cpl. A Clarke, PMQ 36, wearing the gloves in question. Latter girl stated she had found them when questioned by AFP. Due to conflicting reports, gloves returned to owner. No further action probable.

22 Feb 62

S/L Bruner requested that the duty MSE driver be brought to his PMQ. He reported that the duty driver LAC Gallant had nearly caused an accident by driving the bus down the wrong way from the Operations Building compound and nearly struck S/L Bruner’s car who was proceeding to the Operations Building when both vehicles met at the gate to the compound.

24 Feb 62

Impaired Driving - Cpl. Newlove, FtrCop, stopped from leaving the unit at 0220 hours due to his impaired condition. Keys to his car retained by duty AFP.

25 Feb 62

Speeding - Mr. RA Blakeney of English Electric Company, visitor on the unit, was warned for exceeding the speed limit on the station.

27 Feb 62

Accident - LAC Frey, Comm Tech, while backing up service vehicle 617B5 in the Transmitter site, struck a car owned by Mr. A Simms, civilian painter, CE Section. Nil damage to service vehicle. $300.00 estimated damage to the other car. Underwriters Adjustment Bureau informed.

2 Mar 62

Fire - Station fire department attending scene of fire at Beaverbank Road home of Robert Lively. No injury. Minor damage.
Insecurity - 1800 hours. Door to CE office found unlocked by duty AFPman. CE personnel contacted and building checked and secured.

4 Mar 62

PMC Accident - LAC RI Mills, Radar section, reported that he was involved in an auto collision at Lower Sackville, NS this date. Nil injuries. Damage considered extensive.
Injury - Approximately 2330 hours, this date, LAC Gloade, MSE Section, while operating a front end loader in snow removal operations, struck a clothesline in the PMQ area. A piece of the windshield flew back into his eye. N/S examined the injury and then had Gloade taken to Stadacona hospital for further treatment.

Traffic Offence - LAC Donovan, Operations, checked by RCMP for driving without NS operators license.

8 Mar 62

Insecurity - Emergency exit door in the Radar section found open. Radar personnel warned re this insecurity and fire seals placed on the door to prevent indiscriminate use of exit.

9 Mar 62

Theft/Loss - One red blanket was reported missing from the male officers quarters. Subsequent investigation resulted in recovery.

13 Mar 62

MSE Accident - LAC Gloade, MSE Section, involved in a collision at Lower Sackville, NS, while driving a service bus. AFP investigation at scene. Total damage approximately $400.00. Nil injury.

15 Mar 62

F/L Lommel reported that a shortage had occurred in the Officer’s Mess bar. Shortage amounted to about $20.00. Check instituted by AFP.

16 Mar 62

False Alarm - 0835 hours. Fire alarm sounded from Operations building. Fire department attended. Determined to be a false alarm caused by workmen inadvertently applying heat to the alarm system.
Miscellaneous - Investigation commenced into the reported incident of LAC Perkins, Comm Tech, bringing civilian owned TV sets and radios on the unit for repair. Also the instance of his attempting to sell an amplifier with RCAF markings.

19 Mar 62

Security - Notification received that the civilian security guards employed at the GATR site were to be relieved of duties effective this date.

24 Mar 62

Security - Routine check of Rec. Centre revealed several dependant children inside the building unauthorized. Entrance gained by rattling theatre door exit lock and throwing off locking device. Memo submitted to CAdO with names of children involved.

27 Mar 62

Hit & Run Accident - LAC Newell reported that while RCMP vehicle 796A10 was parked in front of Combined Mess, it had been struck by another vehicle who failed to stop. Investigation conducted and Cpl. HA Gillis was found to be at fault in this accident. Nil injuries. Minor damage to PMC. Approximately $290.00 estimated to service vehicle. Action continuing.

30 Mar 62

License Suspension - RCMP advising that the drivers license of Mr. JL Davidson, civilian firefighter, had been suspended for a period of 7 days effective 2 Apr 62 as a result of conviction on a speeding charge.

Security - Mrs. Oram, duty Snack Bar attendant, reported that the exit door of the snack bar could not be locked. Duty AFP checked and effected temporary security.
Insecurity - Large outside exit to CE stockroom found open at 1745 hours by duty AFP. Checked and secured by CE personnel.

Damage - A/SWO FS Hayes reported that a wall in the washroom of the Airmen’s barracks had been damaged. Investigation unable to determine person(s) responsible. All occupants assessed an administration deduction to pay for repairs.

Impaired Driving - Complaint received from Mrs. Latter, that her husband Cpl. Latter, Photo, was driving while under the influence. Duty AFP, LAC Robbins, located Cpl. Latter and took possession of his car keys, and drove Cpl. Latter to his PMQ.

Insecurity - Rear entrance of electronic stores in Operations building found insecure. Determined that EMI Cossor personnel were responsible for this insecurity.

Alert - Siren sounded, 1510 hours, this date. CHQ personnel conducting nuclear defence drills.

Damage - LAC Wallace, PMC of the Airmen’s Mess, reported that someone had broken the glass to the main door of the mess. Investigation determined that Cpl. Donnelly was responsible. Administration deduction assessed to compensate for damage.

Fire - Fire occurred at Operations building. Alarm sounded at 1750 hours. Cause determined to be a short in electrical cables. Nil damage. CE to rectify.

Disturbance - Mrs. Mountain, Station Grocery Store, complained of dependants causing a disturbance in the Snack Bar and Grocery store. Boys were Robby Northup, Robert Heggtveit, Blair Todd, Leslie Lommel and B Thompson. Boys warned and ordered out of the building.

24 Apr 62

Security - Car parked outside of North gate belonging to Mr. Smith, civilian. Mr. Smith, Cavanaugh and Cameron found in Airmen’s barracks. They had been signed off the unit at 2100 hours by 72430 LAC DM Smith, Radar Tech, and had come back on by the hospital later.

Security - Commissionaire Rose confiscated one half pint of beer from Mr. Cheverie at the main gate. LAC Coneen had signed Mr. Cheverie on the unit and was in the car with him.

Security - Officers bar fridge found open. Checked and secured by LAC Sigsworth.
Discipline - Commissionaire Croft stopped a car driven by LAC Hennigar and had confiscated two bottles of beer from Sgt. Oram, who was a passenger in the car. LAC Robbins, duty AFP, placed the beer in the lock-up and submitted Memo.

Discipline - Mr. L Carbonneau stopped at main gate for being impaired at 0235 and Cpl. Mallett, duty AFP, confiscated keys. At 0700 the keys were turned back to Mr. Carbonneau and he was allowed to leave.

Discipline - Mrs. Gillmore reported broken window in PMQ 35. Window broken by children playing ball. Unable to determine who the children were.
Discipline - School bus driver complained of disorderly conduct of dependant children. Wanted to know if he had the authority to remove him from the bus. CAdO to action.

2 May 62

Theft - Theft of money from Airwomen’s Quarters reported by AW’s DJ Wells and MGM Donovan. Wells lost $5.00 and Donovan $2.00. Investigated by AFP with negative results.

4 May 62

Fire exit doors of Radar Section, although secured by a lock and chain, were open enough to permit AFPman on duty to enter unobserved. This was repeated by duty AFPman on two consecutive nights. Crew Chief was advised on each occasion and did close doors.

5 May 62

Discipline - Report received from a Mrs. C Walker of Lower Sackville to the effect that a PMC bearing a sticker issued at this unit was parked on her lawn and had been there for most of the night. Damage was caused to the lawn by this car. The PMC is registered in the name of LAC JL Doiron, FtrCop, who was subsequently identified and made restitution to Mrs. Walker for damage caused.

Insecurity - Main door of CE Section found insecure by duty AFPman. F/O Belovich advised and door secured.

Safety Check - RCMP carried out safety check of PMCs on the unit on this date and two later dates.

11 May 62

Discipline - AFPman on duty requested by PAdO to pick up LAW ER Wells, who had just left unit after a fight with her boyfriend. LAW Wells was returned to quarters by AFP after picking her up approximately ½ mile from the unit on the Beaverbank Road.

12 May 62

Discipline - Duty AFPman would not permit 136801 LAC RD Ackles, FtrCop to leave unit driving LAC Jordans PMC due to his condition through overindulgence of alcohol. Report submitted to CAdO. Result unknown.

Discipline - 22350 Cpl. WD McDonald of RCAF Station Gorsebrook removed from Airmen’s Canteen and unit due to his being intoxicated.

Insecurity - One door in school found insecure by AFPman on patrol. Door secured.

Insecurity - Outside entrance to CO’s office found insecure. Door secured by duty AFPman.
Insecurity - Rec. Office door in Rec. Centre found insecure by duty AFPman. Door secured.

Insecurity - Administration entrance door to CE Section found insecure by duty AFPman. CEO advised and door secured.

Damage - LAC Malone reported that a window in the station library had been broken. Check revealed no other damage. Apparently caused by small children throwing stones.

Damage - FS McElroy complained that a dog owned by F/O Bilton had been running loose through PMQs and causing damage. Report submitted to CAdO.

Discipline - LAC Cornish, found in possession of beer by RCMP while parked on the Beaverbank Road north of the station. Cornish charged in civil court. Convicted and fined $10.00 and costs.
Discipline - While RCMP were checking the above incident, another car parked nearby suddenly departed in haste when they approached. This vehicle did not stop when ordered to do so and although followed at a high rate of speed was not halted. Vehicle subsequently identified as belonging to LAW Harnish of this unit.
Theft - LAC DM Smith, reported that while he was employed as lifeguard at the swimming pool, someone had stolen 50 cents and a book of stamps from his clothes which were hanging in the dressing room.

Fire Alarm - Fire alarm sounded at school. Check revealed faulty alarm box. No evidence of fire.

AWA - WO Boissoneault reported that AWs Letourneau and DJ Wells were AWA. These Airwomen returned to the Station at 1900 hours 25 May. Action being taken by Operations personnel.

27 May 62

Insecurity - Filing cabinet in PAdO’s office found insecure when security check carried out by NCO i/c AFP. PAdO notified.
Miscellaneous - FS Brown requested that his son-in-law, Mr. C Dean of Beaverbank be denied entrance to the unit. This request complied with as domestic troubles given as reason for the action.
Discipline - During routine car check, LAC Geneau was found in possession of equipment with RCAF markings. This matter referred to the CTSO for action.

Insecurity - Outside entrance to CO’s office found open by duty AFPman. Door checked and secured.
PMC Accident - Information received that AW1 M Brown was involved in an auto accident near Cornwallis, NS. Check made with RCN authorities at Cornwallis and details obtained. Accident was of a minor nature and Brown received only superficial injuries.
