Pinetree Line web site comment - It must be remembered that most of the initial construction for Pinetree Line radar stations in the Canadian northeast had been completed during the summer and early fall of 1952. This was part of Operation SUNAC and resulted in inital construction being completed at locations such as St. Anthony, Hopedale, Cartwright, Saglek (Hebron), Cape Chidley, and Frobisher Bay.
Site N-30 was initially scheduled to be constructed at Cape Chidley. This location was subsequently changed to Resolution Island. This meant that construction of the complex at Resolution Island was a full year behind that of the other Pinetree Line radar stations. As a result, preliminary work at Resolution Island did not take place until the summer of 1953 - and this was part of Operation Bluenose.
It is safe to assume that Operation Bluenose - during the summer of 1953 - was used to augment the situation which existed at Resolution Island (Cape Warwick).
