These connected buildings were built as part of the military radar station at Moosonee. After the station closed, they were used to house Moose Factory students when they stayed over in Moosonee during freeze up and breakup seasons. At that time, students went back and forth by helicopter once a week. The number of Moose Factory students attending high school (Northern Lights Secondary School) in Moosonee has declined since the opening of the Doroles D Echum Composite School in Moose Factory. Today, the students who come over for high school are those who live in off reserve areas of Moose Factory.
