The 300 mile relay was conducted in half-mile stretches. Dressed in identical uniforms, the runners started at 2 a.m., Thursday, June 20. Exactly 34 hours and 20 minutes later, they entered the city limits. When the team arrived at the Red River Exhibition, Captain Stu Taylor, oldest member of the team (at age 44, and located behind the Winnipeg 100 sign in the photo), presented the city a hand-carried scroll bearing a congratulatory message to the city on its centennial.
