Hardware being warmed on illumination lamps - February 1963.
We were erecting the fibreglass radome in February. In the evening it was bitterly cold - about -30°F. The hardware was frozen in their boxes and much too cold to handle while assembling the radome panels. It was my idea to aim some of the illumination lamps skyward and to heat the hardware before use. We had a clothesline rigged between the lamp area and the installer. Quick as we were, the hardware (too hot to handle) cooled in its journey to the installer and was just warm enough to handle.
