The road winding to the top of the photo ends at the airstrip. Only about 1500 feet of runway was available at the time I was stationed at Resolution Island. They did not fly any fixed wing aircraft there, but they did make use of the runway for para-drops. The helicopters landed at a pad closer to the site. The buildings about half way down across from the fuel tank were known as the Civilian Camp or the Construction Camp. When I was there, these buildings housed Canadian civilians who were working on a Marconi project.

You can see that the site is on the edge of a 1300 foot cliff which drops down to the water. The building in the upper right hand corner, at the end of the road, is the Radio Shack. After leaving in 1957, I heard that an Airman who worked at Radio Maintenance fell over the side of the cliff while taking photos near the Radio Shack. The vertical line in the center on the right hand side of the photo is the sewer line going out to the edge of the cliff. There was an ugly stain where sewage ran down the cliff and this prompted the nickname of "Shit-Face Mountain".
