I returned to Marble Island in June 1992. My return trip was completed with my wife, my nephew and a couple of his children. We flew out of Sandspit airport on Vancouver Island Helicopters. We were only at Marble Island for about an hour, but that was plenty of time to get a few photographs and take some Super 8 film of the area.
All of the original buildings were gone - either as a result of the elements over the years, or I suppose we must also allow for the possibility that some of the material could have been taken by the native population in the local area. The two 50,000 gallon oil tanks were still there and the original cooking stove was well rusted and just lying there - a victim of neglect. The entire area where the radar station once existed was grown over with under growth and the only thing that I could recognize was the flattened remains of the original Rec Hall.
