Inactive RCAF Sites and Facilities
Command Responsibility

1. The recommendations requested in AFHQ referenced letter have been received from the Commands concerned. The facilities held by the Commands indicated at the following sites are to be taken over by your Command:

Sites in Training Command

Brooklyn, NS
Tignish, PEI
Mount Pleasant, PEI
Jarvis, Ontario
Edenvale, Ontario

Sites in North West Air Command

Netley Lake, Manitoba
Chater, Manitoba
Portage la Prairie, Manitoba
Hamlin, Saskatchewan
Bowden, Alberta
Shepard, Alberta
Tofino, BC
Port Hardy, BC

2. In the case of Shephard, Alberta, it is planned to take over from the Department of Transport their surplus facilities at the site. These, in addition to the facilities now held by NWAC, are to be taken over by your Command. Therefore, it is suggested that the facilities held by NWAC and these to be allocated from DOT be taken over at the same time when the latter facilities have been allocated and your CHQ informed thereof.

3. May arrangements be made with the AOC concerned to take over the facilities held by the Department of National Defence at each of the above sites.

4. Air Transport Command has not recommended the transfer of the RCAF holdings at Pendleton to your Command. This matter is being investigated and you will be informed if transfer to your Command is decided upon. The facilities at Pendleton held by the RCAF consist of one Mess Building and one small Hangar.
