The RCAF constructed 32 RD radar station on the coast of Newfoundland opposite to Pig Island, in the general area known as "Lakes Book" hill. It was a little under a kilometer from the RCAF site to the "town" of Port aux Basques, making use of a steep hill and a winding gravel road only wide enough to permit the progress of one vehile. The radar antenna for the RCAF site was located on top of a nearby "knoll" - which is the 150 foot elevation mark on the map. The RCAF site was located exactly one kilometer from the USCG LORAN site - which was opposite to Mouse Island.
