This photo depicts an RCAF truck at the dock. The pulley apparatus lifted the rowboats out of the water which on occasions were jammed in the air. There was at least one casualty on record when a suspended rowboat capsized, killing an officer.

In this photo, on the left side of the road is the garage, canteen hut, administration building and the mess hall. If you look closely, you will see the end of the hospital (above the admin building) and a bit of the storage building (to the right of the mess hall). Note the Langara Island lighthouse (in its original white paint - center top).

Four barrack blocks are visible on the lower side of the road. On the upper side of the road (L-R) are the garage, the canteen hut, administration building and the mess hall (closest to the road). The hospital was to the right of the administration building, but it is not visible in this photo. Note the Langara Island lighthouse (in its original white paint - top right).
