Mouse Island, NF

Comments by Bruce Musson: October 2004 - The situation can be somewhat confusing since there is both a community and an island called "Mouse Island".

Mouse Island, the island, was never habitated. It sometimes had grass and sheep were placed there by my grandparents to feed, but nothing more. Mouse Island, the community, was even called Mouse Cove in one census. There appeared to be three divisions in the 1940-1990 time frame - Mouse Island, Channel, and Port aux Basques. Mouse Island has been swallowed up into the "Channel" designation.
