Laid down under a Maritime Commission contract, (MC standard type VC2-S-AP5) at Oregon Shipbuilding Corp., Portland Oreg; Launched 4 July 1944; Aquired by the Navy from the Maritime Commission and Commissioned USS Latimer (APA-152), 28 August 1944; Decommissioned 26 February 1947 at Norfolk Navy Yard, Portsmouth Va and was assigned to the Atlantic Reserve Fleet; Recommissioned 23 September 1950 at Portsmouth Va; Decommissioned 15 May 1956 at Orange Texas and was transferred to the Texas Group of the Atlantic Reserve Fleet;
