ARTIFACT: German Automatic Naval Weather Station – Type WFL-26

Description:
- Its purpose is to measure temperature, barometric pressure, wind direction and velocity and to transmit data automatically seven times a day for up to three months, powered by four nickle cadmium batteries, 35 components in all, called in German a WFL-6, Wetter-Funkgeraet, land.
- Designed by Dr. Ernest Ploetze and Edwin Stoebe for Siemens, set up in laboratory by the crew of German U-Boat 537 on 1943/10/22. Discovered in site and recovered in 1981;
